Dretch*Storm Tremulous Community LAN Party
« on: September 09, 2007, 07:43:18 pm »
I feel that this topic should be in this section, if not just move it to the Off Topic section.
Well I am here to post about a possible LAN Party Idea that I and couple others have thought of and would like to refer you to Dretch*Storm website to take a look at what is planned.

Here is link.

How about you try to get a plan and come back when you thought it through?

To be a bit more positive...

Sounds like an ambitious project, good luck!

Yes I figured I would get those kind of comments, in the Dretch*Storm blog that I posted it was just an idea, I hope to see it happen if it does I really don't care who comes.  But right now I am trying to find a place in Dallas, TX to have it hosted with Internet Services Higher then T3.  Someone gave me a idea of renting a suite for a week.  But this will take time, I plan to make sure it happens the summer of 08, if not Summer of 09.  But I am thinking of having a fee to come to this.  In the blog it said I would have 8 48 port 10/100 Blades. Total of 384 ports for people to plug into with gigabyte fiber if possible.  There will be 2 servers called D*S LAN Party and D*S LAN Party2 (With password) The public server will have a total of 64 Players and the private server will have 21.

I know some of you think this might not go through, but you will be surprised what I can accomplish.

If you get the idea and you really think about doing it, I wish you good luck.
If you have never even tried to get a LAN up, for more than 50 people, you better try to get a hold of someone that has. The financial overhead is bigger than what you could get by entry fees alone, so you'd be needing sponsors too.
And to get a sponsor, you need more than a "possible idea", you need a real plan if not a clue...

Your right, but thats why I am posting it to see how many people think its a good idea, I already have people in my hometown that will enjoy helping, also another person from TN who has done this before who would be willing to help, I did not post it for you guys to flame me about it, I posted it to see what idea's I can get from you guys.  If you wish to flame me then I will stop posting about it, cause from the looks of it some of you want to just for me posting something like this.

Quit posting these "ideas" or whatever you call them, Oblivion. Here at Tremulous we only support what we're already used to. We fear change.

Caveman, what's wrong with you? Did your dog die? Wearing an ugly tie?
Bullied at school? fool.

Obviously, what Oblivion is doing is posting this to check how many people would be willing to come, so that when that day comes, he does not sit there alone, with no tremmers there.

It's called -checking how popular an idea is before you put it into action because you wouldnt put an unpopular idea into action-.

Now, i know you're way older than me, Caveman.

Act it.

Now for those other people flaming him, I do not know what your major malfunction is either, but i propose that you should go some better maners at the mall.

The internet should not be a place where you can just throw your general agression into the face of other people.

To oblivion: Yeah great idea! Good luck! Too bad America is a bit too far away for me. :P

As for me, I know I couldn't make it. I'm in Kansas, and I'm not enough of a Trem fan to arrange a trip down there. :P

You know, someone should just make a Tremulous Frappr, so everyone can know where everyone else is. It'd be useful for something like this, besides just being fun (and stalktastic).

While its a good idea, i wonder if tremulous has the player base to support this.  seems unlikely, but if you can get enough interest, then more power to you.
