Can't say I've ever used Linux, but ever time I use the windows systems in school (I think they're running XP, not entirely sure though.) I wish I was on a mac. There are all kinds of nifty little features such as Dashboard and Exposé which mae navigating so much easier, not to mention how easy is it to set up keyboard shortcuts, and that the deafult ones are all sensible and easy to remember. All in all I manage to get about twice as much done on a mac since I'm not grappling with an awkward user interface.

people hate ubuntu because it's actually a decent OS, and is gaining popularity.
this encroaches upon their "secret linux club", robbing them of their feel of superiority because most people can't be bothered to jump through the hoops it takes to set up older, shittier distributions of linux.
 also, it uses GNOME. torvolds, their lord and savior, doesn't like GNOME because he can't readily fuck with the right click menu, so he is trying to herd everyone over to KDE.

personally i want it to gain popularity because the one thing i miss from windows is games, if more and more people start using linux instead of windows the game companies will start making games for linux its simply good business, i can play some games fairly well with crossover but anything fullscreen sucks really =\
