LINUX Private local host server...

So, I play Tremulous quite a bit, but no nothing of servers, and its just so confusing to have to burn all this server crap onto a disk for my lil bro's red hat linux. So, is it possible to jsut use the /devmap or 'Create Game' option in Tremulous itself with a custom Game.qvm? So, if I replaced the game.qvm in tremulous folders with Amine's bot mod Game.qvm  and did a create game thingy, would it work?
