It's not like they're clone soldiers or anything. *cough, hack, wheeze, cough*

Oh, and they're getting full body suits in 1.2, anyway.  Can't for the life of me remember the link to the image goodies, though.

I woukld hardly notice it, except in a headchomp, prehaps.

If you look more at that directory, you will find files with the names:

AGENCYB.TFF
AGENCYR.TFF
BEDROCKN.TFF

The Extension "TFF" is a "Windows True Type Font"

This effectively means that at least these three fonts will be available in Tremulous 1.2, hopefully, and that font mods may be possible.

Not TFF, TTF. Some previews:

Definitely looks like the Tremulous fonts.

They are not native mac fonts. My guess is that he was giving them to someone via his website.

I'm not sure why you say that they're not native Mac fonts. I made those screenshots myself, using the TTF files from the aforementioned directory.
Of course, certain filetypes (for example, OTF) are preferred, but Truetype is supported perfectly fine.

The font could easily be used to generate the tremulous "font" graphics, rather than being used directly in the engine.

Although using an actual font, as opposed to pre-rendered images allows you to do things like, oh, resize text and allow for more info to be shown. Not only that, it's probably more resource-friendly, because you don't have to have a bunch of images.

I'm sure it would indeed be better, I'm simply saying that the existence of a TTF doesn't imply that Tremulous is going to make the switch. I forget exactly why they don't use "proper" fonts, but there is a good reason.

The "fonts" in trem are in the form of large images that contain all characters in a grid. Text is rendered by drawing the part of the image that holds the character you want (r_showtris 1 shows each char as a single rectangle). This is probably somewhat quicker than using a TTF renderer library since this method of text rendering is largely done on the graphics card.

From what I remember, it was fear of patents on rendering algorithms.

I mean they are not amongst the original fonts on OS X.
