Idea: External player browser.
« on: October 20, 2007, 09:51:23 pm »
I had this idea, but i can't program or modify for shit, so i need to ask someone with the skills if this is possible.
The idea was to make an external friend search, to put on internet pages, maybe there could be some server somewhere doing friend searches.
This could be put on an internet page and updated in regular intervals.
The tool (or whatever) would be focused on for example searching for a clan tag. I imagine putting this somewhere on the home page of your clan site, something like this:

This would IMO make searching for fellow players much less painful, as the current system is annoying and a pain in the butt.

Could this be doable?

There is the Tremulous server browser program over at Tremulous.info, but I think you're thinking about a webpage-integrated search system? It would be difficult to do, in my uneducated opinion, but somebody might be able to do it.

Not so hard, with the work already done on http://clans.tremulous.net/ its not so hard to do. http://clans.tremulous.net/ should just feature a small php script to allow to query this information. But has to be done by someone with access to http://clans.tremulous.net/ (i think)

This is a relatively simple request.

10 minutes with google will turn up what you need.
