Let's all draw stick figures of Tremulous characters and spam the General Discussion section with it! According to Pie, that is totally legit! Go go go!

If it is spam it is spam no matter where it is.

I'm not going to read this entire thread because it is clear to me the intent of the sections and this thread is astonishingly long for this topic.
We don't need a new subtopic. Fan art and other tremulous related stuff goes in the GENERAL DISCUSSION section. Completely non related to anything tremulous related community discussion goes in the OFF TOPIC.
You are confusing FEEDBACK with GENERAL DISCUSSION as far as the discussion of tremulous goes from what I can tell. If you want to break GENERAL DISCUSSION down into a whole bunch of often occurring sub topics then it isn't very GENERAL.

altough it would've been nice to have a unique topic for fan-art, if noone is going to lure the thing away from GD, then its okay.
as only one guy is against that, i keep posting it there srry :-S

If there isn't consensus among mods, then would they state their opinions a bit more gently?

If neither Surv nor PIE finds any reason why members shouldn't post art in GD, then I guess that puts the kibosh on lava keeping all that stuff out of GD, and since it's a personal peccadillo of lava's then it would be nicer to see it stated as a request, and not a flaming command from the god-mod du jour.

I guess what we are saying is, if it's just one guy's opinion, try not stating it as if it were an immutable law of nature, known to all, and somehow violated with malice aforethought.

That respect thing, and the sense of community, they work both ways and go hand-in-hand.

So yeah, we really don't need another section as much as we need either consistency in posting guidelines, or a little more honey and a little less vinegar when things don't meet your high expectations of orderliness.

You still haven't answered my question, lava. Is all fan art nonsense?

Thanks again to the mods who participated, for at least trying to explain what their personal policies are, since there doesn't seem to be a general one in place.

Cheers!

Lastly, none of you mods can see the value of having a separate place for fanstuff, huh? You don't think S&T was a successful experiment? It just seems like people would be able to figure out where to put stuff more easily, and it would be less up to the personal preference of the officer of the day (who will hopefully be a kindler, gentler overseer in future).

We have the option of having multi purpose threads, or separating it all off. I think having it in general will generally bring more attention to fan generated content than it being separated off. I very much prefer forums to have broader topics than to have lots of them. The only topic i feel that we still need is a hidden topic for moderators/devs/admins so we can discuss things that need to be discussed between us here in the forums instead of our current methods.

People currently have trouble with posting in the sections we do have, I agree with Survivor that adding yet another section might not be a smart thing. We would not want to confuse you, you have difficulties enough trying to figure out where to post.

I prefer fan-art to be posted in OT, but I can totally understand that GD is just about as good a place for it. That's the beauty of the Human psyche, it doesn't have to be either black or white.

despite of the start where he draws the line again between himself and the reatarded audience of tremulous.net, the main conclusion is that he agrees also. so happy fanart times.
PIE is right, mod debates should happen somewhere hidden.
