Which race do you prefer?

I noticed that many players prefer one race, and play mostly as a Human or as an Alien. I guess some people are joining the team which is winning (if it fits in team balance) - others join the team which has fewer players, while many of us wait in line as a Spectator, until a slot opens for our beloved race. Or, depends it on the map you are playing, or your mood?
Don't get me wrong, it isn't a bad thing to like and play one race above the other. As it for me, I only play as a Human, you'll never see me playing as a crazy Dretch or a life-sucking Marauder :D.
I hope you'll find this a worthy poll, I think it would be interesting to know, how the majority of us chooses between races.

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

I play auto-team.  Best way to play better is to know the weaknesses of both sides first hand.

Btw, the poll options are a little odd.  Shouldn't the humans and aliens options be seperate?  :-?

Nope. It isn't interesting to know how many Aliens or Humans are out there (wow, this is like a sci-fi script  :P ), but more like the main thing: Are there more race-specialized players, or are most of the people driven by 'it depends on map or my mood' like, so random.

Prefer aliens but will play humans in an instant if they're undermanned. Prefer for me means what team would you join if you where the first to enter the game, and that's aliens.
I never go for the winning team, where's the challenge in that?
I’m busy. I’ll ignore you later.

Usually, I just join whichever team has less players.

I would rather play as a stupid little Dretch instead of waiting forever as a spectator for someone to disconnect.

Okay, I was just misled by the thread title.  Good to see lots of auto-teamers so far!

I picked the "I play only Aliens/Humans."  Because I will nearly always play aliens.  I will, occasionally, play humans, but I don't have nearly as much fun.

Quake (any of them, really) has always been about movement.  Once you get the mouse in your hand, aiming is pretty easy--force yourself to play railgun only in Q3, and you'll get pretty scary, pretty quickly.  The harder thing is figuring out how to get the heck out of the way.

I'm also a fan of speed running (meaning, I'm no good at it, but I think those guys are Teh 31337).

Anyway, what this boils down to is that the humans run slow compared to standard Q3A, and aliens generally move on par speed wise, and have a big bag of tricks, most of which involve movement.  I like figuring out how to get to difficult spots on a map, and the aliens open up every little nook on the map, if it's accessible at all, one of the aliens can get to it.  I also like figuring out weird shortcuts on maps.

Again, I don't play aliens 100%--there is wisdom in knowing one's enemy.  (It's still a good bet that I'll join the aliens if you see pop onto a server.)

Movement as aliens is a bit more advanced than humans with stuff like dretch wallwalk, marauder wall jump, and goon pounce. It's just more fun. Movement is equally important as a human and equally effective, just that I prefer dragoon's awesome mobility which lets you be creative with your attacks.

Yeah, movement is important to both, but I guess my point was I get so many more options with the aliens, and the movement aspect is just more effective.

The 'goon pounce is great.  It's like having a non-damaging rocket jump.

I still like marauders a little better.  There wall jump ability, once you learn to control it a bit, can be used almost like wallwalking in the right places.  There are tons of good scrambles sitting in the various maps, and they make for some great short-cuts.

Indeed, you're right. Aliens have a huge advantage and mobility in moving and jumping. Wallwalking is also a nice feature, but the real force lies within jumping/pouncing and the fact that Aliens don't run out of stamina.
I play FPS games since Quake 1 (mostly Unreal Tournament, from the day it was released), and yeah, it's really hard to stay alive with that little Human-jumping :D My favorite routine was (occasionally) to figure out jumps to reach places fast - without rocket jumping. Yes, it is a little bit limited stuff compared to Trem's Alien movement. Pro player are capable of managing a lot of nasty things with the Alien class (I think we have more good players on the Alien side, too :P).
But, in years, I also learned to effectively fight from afar and aim, and I think that's the main reason for 'Human only' votes. I could also play Aliens (whoa, that could come out nasty :D), but I have confidence in my long-range aiming skill, and prefer to hold a distance between me and my enemy  8) .
There are much better players than me out there, but I decided to specialize on long-range arts, so that's the main reason for me to play only as a Human. I can easily evade Dragoon pounces from afar and mid-range (as long as my stamina lasts) but of course, if I turn around a corner, and a face a Dragoon or Tyrant, I'm likely f/cked  :D ;)...
