Not a joke: painsaw+jetpack

It really happened. I was too stunned to make a screenshot. It was on ATCS. I don't remember the server. SOMEONE REALLY USED A PAINSAW WITH A JETPACK! I still cannot believe it.

Why would anyone even THINK of that combination? What's the purpose of all this? He even kept it up for a few minutes, then he obviously figured that this was of no use and changed equipment, but no matter what, it did happen.

Sometimes I really don't know whether I should laugh or cry.

I've tried it a couple times.

I thought it might be interesting to see if I could attack n00b tyrants from above or attack them from behind.

I don't remember it working too well.

I've done it multiple times, while pretending to be jettarding, just so I could attack the enemy base. It works surprisingly well. Well enough that my Painsaw bind buys Jetpack, Grenade as well as Painsaw. This is mostly for maps other than ATCS, though, such as Niveus, Nexus6 and Karith, in which there are numerous scenarios for which a jetpack can come in handy.

The Jetpack is very useful with a Painsaw on Arachnid, where it lets you get up to the pipes quickly, and into the area above the default alien base.

Jetsaws are 1337, if you know how to use them right.

They're especially useful for getting to the default alien egg location in Nexus6 before S3 lucijumps become possible, plus those eggs in the ledge outside Karith's elevator room are very, very hard to shoot without a luci splash or jetpack anyways.

If aliens move to the mesh above their default location in Arachnid, jetsaws are about the only way to go without, as previously mentioned, using lucijumps.

So, a painsaw and jetpack combination isn't necessarily noob-like; you can really diminish the alien ego when you're up sawing their ceiling eggs without hassle.

I don't know, but it takes 200 lasgunshots almost to take down the OM... I don't think you're going to get a lot of eggs with it. Though I'd stick to the MD for grangerhunt. Take down grangers -> noone left to spam eggs.

Lasgun is weaker than the blaster?  Only because I know it takes 84 shots from a blaster to take down a full OM.

I'd love to say I know this because I read the source and did the math, but unfortunately that's not the case

QFT... LasGun is also quite a good weapon for the jpack... pulse rifle can be, but the shots are so retardedly slow....

Yes. Pulserifles are obscenely slow projectiles.

Also, word has it that pulserifle shots are less damaging than a blaster round. I haven't checked the source, but I'll look at it to see if it's true.

By the way I saw Caveman use the Painsaw+jetpack combo multiple times on the (Cebt) clan server xD

Also I think THE MOST USELESS combo I have ever seen is psaw battpack.... xD I had to explain that the painsaw cannpt, and doesn't need more ammo... then I started doing it as a joke and saying "OMFGWTFNUBHAX MAH PAINSAW IS OUTTA AMMOSz0RSZ!!!!!!" till I got kicked xD
