What to do if you suspect aimbotting
« on: December 15, 2007, 10:02:18 am »
Learn to use /follow and /m

/follow <offending player>

the suspicious person... search youtube for tremulous aimbot or tremulous wallhack to see how it looks to the player and how they act.  If this looks to be the case, then PM an admin on the server (ask who's the admin if you don't know):

/m <admin_name> yo mr. admin, spec <offending player>, he's aimbotting, I just speced him and saw it.

If they aren't botting, then continue to watch them, and learn from them / also learn how to counter their tactics, look for weak points in their methods.

EDIT:
Dont forget /a !

Many of the good servers out there have this patch. Do /a to send to admins, so maybe there are admins who are on, but not visible publicly to you or anyone. Puretremulous and all the other MG servers, barring }MG{ Development Server, have this patch. Works great!

It's better to let the admins be the judge of that.
An aimbot will behave like a total newbie but seems to have ultra reflexes. Atleast the aimbots I've seen were like that (or were spamming the link)

Well, it's better than accusing them of botting... better to do your homework first, if you think they really are botting.

The problem is some players abuse that feature so that they can get rid good players who have been killing them, making their game suck..

its like,'hey, this game is getting bored,i've had it, lets get rid that bastard who has been killing me, yo mr admin.. his aimbotting.. ban him!!!'.. see how things go?  :-[

Any admin worth his salt will only take this action IF the person making the accusation is trusted OR they have sussed it out themselves.

So I fixed it for you.

Also if you spec them and take a demo you can post it here or pm it to someone and let them be the judge if you aren't willing to accuse the person off of your own opinion...

Well that wouldn't get him out of your game fast enough and secondly but more importantly: this is not the forum to post aimbot demos... 8)

Yeah but it is a forum for anything connected to trem... so technically it is.

Also if he gets an ip, and guid the person can be banned from other servers...

Do not post demos of people using aimbots and cheats on this forum, they will be removed. If you want to share a demo with an admin, contact him privately via email or a forum PM.

(click it)

//Also, IP & GUID are useless. What stops him from spoofing either? Or just unplugging his modem long enough to get assigned a new IP and deleting his GUID and downloading another one? What if he's using server-specific GUID and has some sexy dynamic IP? Sheesh, you're so new you still smell like placenta.
