Pushing the limits with trains...
« on: December 20, 2007, 09:20:41 pm »
What could possibly be done if the limits of the train scripting engines were pushed to the extreme?

1. A train that will move with another train when the second is moved, but can move independently on its own trigger? (e.g.  construction crane)
2. A train that have different destinations, dependent on the status of another? (Lift that wont stop for a missing platform)
3. Trains that can move forwards to the next in a sequence, or backwards to the previous? (Simple multi-stop elevator w/ up and down buttons)
4. Trains that can fork based on different inputs?

Or are all of these beyond the limits of the engine as it is, and an engine change would be required to implement these? I think a couple of these could be set up if another one is possible, but I'm not at all sure.

1. I assume you mean a crate that moves to pick up a crate but where the crate does not move until 'picked up'. Yes. Possible. But there is no choice in picking it up or not.
2. No
3. We answered this one already. 2 stop elevators are not a problem. all others move in circular one way motion.
4. No, unless you use a very complicated system with multiple trains which to be honest is just too easy to bug.
I’m busy. I’ll ignore you later.

all yes, if you take WolfEt engine and mapscripts (the thing which I miss the most). And wolet is built from q3 engine.

I am deleting troy1. You got your old account back and we are not allowing puppet accounts. And the fact that we descenced from the same species as the gorillas and chimpansees does not mean we are just as good at swinging through trees.

Actually. Only thing I can say on this is thank you. I keep forgetting to re-login on every damn browser I use. Now I will just have to do it.
