Tremulous Mapping Guide

Started by Jex, May 19, 2006, 04:28:20 AM

Jex

A few days ago Catalyc and I decided to make an attempt at clearing up the confusion over getting GtkRadiant to function with standalone Tremulous.

We have written guides for installation and setup of multiple versions of GtkRadiant on both Win32 and Linux platforms. Since neither of us have access to an Apple computer we are unable to create Apple specific guides, however anyone attempting to get GtkRadiant working on an Apple will likely also be able to follow the basic concepts of either the Win32 or Linux guides.

In the process of putting these first guides together it has become apparent just how much else there is to know that isn't always easy to find. So we have decided to create a more extensive Tremulous Mapping Guide.
We will be updating this as often as possibile while there are still useful things to be added. Hopefully the content will be helpful to many of you. At the moment we will be keeping additions and maintenance of the guide restricted to a few people to prevent 'tking', so if you find errors or other resources that you feel should be added to the guide, please let us know.

Cheers,

Jex & Catalyc

ok, some bugs :P

1/ http://tremmapping.pbwiki.com/Common+Files
Both links pointing to common files archives are broken

2/ http://tremmapping.pbwiki.com/entity_explanation
a) The page's title, it should be Entity Explanation(Entity+Explanation) and not entity_explanation
b) Er, why is this stuff about selection do here ??
c) You didn't mention trigger_push is ineffective
d) Maybe mention that negatives values of the gravity key in trigger_gravity doesn't work

hope it helps

There's just another guide which I find incredibly useful at the moment which I think would deserve to be added to this list.

GtkRadient - Wikibooks, collection of open content text-books

Although some chapters aren't complete, the basics to get someone started are there. It also does not contain Tremulous-specific info, but great info for GtkRadiant.

At the installation page for 1.4 (http://tremmapping.pbwiki.com/GtkRadiant1_4-Win32), the example files for the project file and the ".game" file do not work along with the link to download the synapse.config file.

somewhat off topic, in GtkRadiant, i noticed that you couldn't add toolbars, but you need a specific toolbar that has the caulk tool...i can't find it in the help anywhere, but is there a way to view another toolbar?

Survivor

caulk is in the common texture set. In newer versions it's on the menu as a C on a pink background iirc.

On the intel mac tutorial the link to common-spog.pk3 sends you to some random search/addselling site. I just googled common-spog.pk3 and found some file called that. Mac radiant doesn't work for me (but thats probly because i'm useing a school computer), but yeah, fix the link.

Is there  anywhere I can find X11 for Mac 10.4(Tiger)?

commander scrooge

10.4 should come with x11?

http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=278656

This should help you if you don't have x11 installed all ready.
Pathbot every thing you need here
