Started by NiTRoX, December 23, 2007, 06:33:33 PM

NiTRoX

A new handheld game system expected to be released in April/May 2008. It will be the most powerful handheld gaming system and will run Playstation 1 games at full speed and N64 games might be possible.

It will feature a Linux Operating system(just like its predecessor: GP2X).

It has lots of featurs such as built in microphone,43 button keyboard, TV output etc...

Design looks like a Nintendo DS Rip Off.

The creators of this system are GamePark Holdings (GPH).

huh, you made an account just to say something in offtopic???
Anyway, I'd rather buy a psp instead of this thing. It looks awfull to hold. It's more like a lesser laptop. I think it would almost be impossible to type without laying it down.

"Oh gosh....oh gosh! TEXTURE ERROOOOOOOR!!!"
"Shoot it! Shoot it!"
"Its got me!!"
"Take it down!"

PSP is crap. You pay extra $$$ just to get an extra browser and a media player...

This is actually worth it .... since the price is good for what you will get..and most of all it features FREE software. :)

Don't be so sure, Quake 3 wouldn't work on a PS1 (and if it did, it'd be pretty laggy), and supposedly this can run PS1 games. It didn't mention PS2 games or Xbox games.

It can "run" them with an emulator, which requires a more powerful machine to do. Quake 3 would run beautifully on this thing.

Johnpp

Ah, 'kay, I thought it only had the power of the PS1. >.>

Odin

You would of course have to change the protocol number so that Pandora players don't get owned by PC players, or if you wanted the game to actually be playable you'd have to give Tremulous dual-analog support or buy a USB mouse.

s/beatifully/barely/, and the biggest obstacle is probably getting sdl running on it.

The GP2X already has a port of SDL. Pandora is the spiritual successor to the GP2X.

You can theoretically install packages from the debian ARM repository.

kevlarman

in that case there should (in theory) be no porting to be done, though there are likely to be a few compile errors that don't show up on x86/ppc

Dirty Sanchez is a British Jackass and it is a sexual *****

I just read the Wikipedia article and i'm a little confused. It's going to be the most powerful handheld, yet only has the possibility of running current handheld games?

Tycho

If it can run trem I'd buy it and a USB mouse and play trem in the university wi-fi all the time ;D it'd be definetely cheaper than a decent laptop which I cannot afford. (not as functional but anyways I am used to going home to do my stuff.) So: DO WANT! ;D

If it can run PSX games at full speed and maybe N64 games, there is no way it will run Quake III Arena/Tremulous. Quake II was the best the PSX and the N64 could run, in 4-player splitscreen. Yes, also on the PSX.

Other than that, this device looks just as shitty and underwhelming as the all the other futile attempts at gaining a foothold in the portable console market.
