Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
« on: December 31, 2007, 02:27:44 pm »
Hello to you all, first off.
Ok as the title might suggest, this topic is about SD and id's 2007 shooter, based on their free and excellent Return to castle wolfenstein:Enemy Territory. I just want to know if anyone else within the community has the game and what is their opinion of it.  ;D

Excellent game, nice to just spend some hours playing and put it away. Also does a lot of things right which i'd wish i'd see in trem.

I tried Return to Castle Wolfenstein: ET and trem at the same time a long time ago. Trem was much more fun imo. So, I am not interested in a game based off of it. Recently, i've played Urban Terror a bit, which is fun. If I want a more realistic game, I play UrT rather than ET.

If it was a long time ago, it might have been Return to castle wolfenstein, ET. ;D

I have ET:quake wars, and I haven't played it much long story short was lost for a while, but I  think it has very fun multiplayer and is definetly worth playing.

I was a beta tester for it... and honestly, it did not impress me as much, physics and graphics performance is average (hell, HL2 runs at better fps, with much higher gfx settings and has some realistic physics in it). I have also played the release version, which was not far from the beta one.

Its a nice game to play for a week or so... but I got way too bored with it.

The most important question you have to ask yourself when playing games.

Is it fun?

physics and graphics, fps and realism are not guarantees for a fun game. Because by that reasoning only the newest games should be played.

I tried the demo, it was funny to build and use the vehicles.

But after tremulous, the variation batween the two races is too small.

Also i don't like to get killed while i dont see my killer, e.g. in an airstike or getting sniped from a kilometer.

I guess i can't be addicted to any other fps anymore, what is a +1 for my real life :-)

I will have to correct myself :

HL2 has a better physics than ETQW. Since ETQW doesnt have physics pretty much at all (and it is not really applied).

I think ETQW lacks the physics to minimize lag in huge online games.
Or am i wrong?

Been playing ETQW the last couple of days, now that i have a computer that can run it...
I'm pretty green though---> got laughed at today for sucking.

Actually ETQW has some of the best antilag I've seen, you can easily play with 150 ping and be competitive as long as you don't go doing the absurd like sniping the ultralong distances or backstabbing in a full base.
