GtkRadiant Setup help needed

can some 1 help me set it up cose ive tryed time and time again using the tuts on here but cant get it to work.
can some i give me a step by step guide to installing it plz?
i have downloaded:
GtkRadiant 1.4
entities.def
q3map2

can some 1 tell where i need to install them all to.
