I would love the double-barreled shotgun. I can solo goons with a normal one while I'm not an exceptional player or anything. Even rants can be killed with a bit of luck. Being able to dice out damage twice as fast? I like 'cough'overpowered'cough'

I always thought having a painsaw bayonet option for the rifle would be fun.  Your primary fire is the rifle where one clip can't even kill a goon and it's near worthless for attacking bases but decently works on small aliens.  Your secondary fire is the painsaw which tears through bases but is not the typical weapon for taking down aliens.  If you combine the two, you have a base destroy that can decently fend off smaller aliens from a distance and if necessary, swtich to painsaw mode for close quarters fighting.  Some things to consider would be that it would have to be manually reloaded and the saw could not be operated while reloading.  Cost would be ??? for now because it would be hard to gauge it's effectiveness until it's tested.  Suggested starting price of 200, maybe 300.

OK, my suggestions: a new system like battlefield series or the enemy territory quake wars series, in which u gain ranks and new 'promotions' in order to gain new upgrades. suppose you kill 10 aliens, u gain a rank, then you can upgrade with a new weapon, suppose a light saber? For aliens, you can unlock a new knid of alien species....

 My suggestions: humans-
1. a new build-able structure such as a chaingun turret, which can be manned by a human.
2. Aliens get a new knid of structure which allows dretchs to aim and launch themselves at a humans(especially their heads)
3. A new type of class? Quake 4’s Strogg?
4. We definitely need some sort of new packs-big-punch weapons. Take for example, a human punch with brass knuckles that does 9 damage? my all time favourite Doom 3’s BFG9000! Or Quake 4’s dark-matter gun, which sucks your enemies into a time warp(that would be cool) Oh yeah, humans also need something like a “berserker”, which makes them “crazy” and enables them to hit with twice the force.
5. For the aliens: they need something ownaging. Something big. Something menacing. Something that can repel almost all the human attacks. If you’ve watched Alien Versus Predator, you catch a glimpse of the alien  ‘Queen’- a 3 storey giant alien with a spiked tail that can pierce humans and attack them!
6. Probably also some sort of alien that can launch dretches at humans, every kill will give the launcher and the dretch 1 evo.
7. Humans can also have the role-system(for example, you can have the soldier class, the builder class, the field ops class and the covert ops class) Different range of items for different roles.
8. A new weapon, probably called the 'obliterator', similar to the luci, but fires a continuous beam of hyper intensified jet of plasma until the ammo runs out. This will probably be availabe at stage 4.
9. Hud- I expect to see some alien stuff, for example, you can see the tyrant’s claws on the hud(both of them)
10. Sensors. Humans get a new Forward Linking Infra Red system , which allows them to see through walls for 1minute- and recharging time. Aliens also adevelop a new sense such as the Magnetic Anomaly Detection sense which enables to aslo see through walls for 1 min, need recharging time.
11. Some sort of light-armoured type suit, except it is much lighter and it modifies the human's genetic system to be able to move extremely quick-like that of a charging tyrant to get out off trouble.

well... thats all I can thihnk of. You can decide the prices later.

to stay on topic: I liked the dretch-hurler tho'... But I think it'd be fun to have aliens be able to pick up dretches and throw them with aim. (Since dretchpunt already enables dretches to be thrown (but it is unaimed by the thrower and the dretch almost never looks in the right direction whilst flying)) maybe we should decide upon which classes could do this actually or how fast should the dretch fly this way - but it certainly have to be faster then regular strafejumping imho... 8)

It is gears-ish, but it's balanceable, practical, and combines the advantage of being long range and the fun of having a painsaw.

Here is my idea for a weapon (it is human but I think plenty of ideas could be thought of for aliens):

Assault Blaster:
has infinite ammo but can over heat / need to recharge every now and then (kind of like plasma guns in Halo)
this would be tuned so the player that simply holds down primary fire quickly runs out of energy
two firing modes:
primary: rapid-fire blaster shots about as accurate as the rifle maybe a bit more
secondary: fires massive blaster shots perfectly aimed every 1-1.5 seconds each shot drains the battery a certain amount (this would be good for base killing)

p.s. if this is the ultimate in n00bisness please !slap 999 me  :-\

that could be nice.

Take a look at the good old Quake2 weapon, the hyperblaster. quite lethal. something between pulse rifle, old chainguns and the plain blaster.

Another idea:

at s2 (or s3 or s4 or s5) all of the humans have their blasters replaced by the Adv Blaster this would be more or less the same as the normal blaster but it could have a secondary fire that was charged up like a luci


btw: the AssBlaster (assault) secondary fire would raise the temperature of the weapon much faster than primary, not sure if I made that clear in the other post
