Hey there,

I am quite sure it has been mentioned before, but there are two things I (as a player and even more a server admin) would like to see:

- Default rate 5000, 7000 or even 10000. 80%+ broadband-connected players are playing at modem rates all the time...
- cl_allowdownload 1 - It just sucks seeing dozens of people trying to connect to our testserver just to get kicked for not having the pk3 and never trying again... :(

How can you change that?.. give me the console command.

Maybe a new menu can be designed to that with prebuild values.

Neo

Command is /rate which defines how much info is sent to the server in each update(in bytes I think).

works in combination with /snaps which is how often it updates.

Only problem with these really is tactics i've seen in counterstrike mostly, where people drop these to lower than even a dial up user would use, as it keeps the server uninformed, meaning that most hits won't register.

Mine is at 25000. Is that default? Seems awfully high actually.

Neo

default is 3000, which I think its for 56k.

25k should work with ADSL.

As I have 100Mbit,  what should I have?

Aziere

Checked into it some more. There IS an option to change netrate. It's in the options, you can't miss it really. And the highest option will set it to 25k (forgot the name, but its LAN/DSL something).

To comment on Neo's post:
I got 8mbit/1mbit aDSL...

Neo

It depends on your upload and the server. 25/30k is a safe value to use, I think higher and servers start to get flooded(don't know the server code so generalizing), which means it impedes the server or it starts blocking them meaning you;re effectively down to 25k again but probably with a bit more lag.
