Ok when I was just starting trem I went out and read everything about every weapon and fighting style out there (as well as building when I eventually got into building), some of it helped some of it didn’t. At the time I was mainly aliens however; I enjoy both classes equally so I will give advice on both and like myself if you don’t agree that’s fine but remember this is my opinion and not factual.
Over all I hope my guides help and you go away with new knowledge, and in turn pass on that knowledge.
Ok let start with humans…. (These strategies are based on general fighting not specific weapons and Armour)
Fighting Strategies:
Ok its hard to write a strategy with fighting because in game so many different things can happen so for this we will focus on 1 opponent enemy.
Fighting Dretches: Ok s1, against a good dretch your generally screwed I have seen some of the best players out there die from mistakes they have made fighting dretches so ill help you not to make them…
Ok so you’re in a corridor a dretch is climbing all ova the walls jumping strafing etc what do you do? Firstly NEVER let him out of your sight, move around, always moving away from the dretch; if he’s on one wall your on the other side, he jumps over or runs over you keep him in your sights and move away in the opposite direction he is heading. This will not always work as sometimes the dretch will get to you, if he does and starts circling you run towards him and then past him he wont be able to circle you that way and then stay away from him. So this whole time 2 be able to do this you need to stay calm and not panic if you panic your gone. I would also recommend burst firing, saves ammo and more accurate. This is only for some weapons however. Ok so that’s the basics… all you have 2 remember is avoid the head chomp move away and counter his moves, keep him in your sights and you will own that dretch.
Next is lisk ok I really struggle to avoid good lisk's if they grab you and you can’t see them your gone. The only thing I can say to this is avoid him at all cost’s do not let him touch you if he’s running straight at you pump his face full of lead, move and hit him as much as possible.
Sorry I cant be much help against these guys but my main advice is avoid and shoot like you would a dretch. Fight these guys in open areas and take a buddy with you cause if you get stuck and cant shoot him than your gone, but if your stuck your buddy can shoot him and save you. I have done this many times and had it done to me.
Marauders ok these guys are hard to kill: the reason being is you have to use a whole different strategy to fight these guys than any other alien, ok these guys will be bouncing around everywhere, trying to hit your head while they jump. Your goal: avoid that jump and keep avoiding him. If they are on the ground chasing you do like you would a dretch counter his movement, he moves 1 way you move the other. Easy however if he's bouncing around like me after a 2 litre bottle of coke than you have to use skill and not panic, you want to shoot him as he is landing from his bouncing spree. Get behind him so he has to turn around and takes longer for his next jump, keep avoiding him and shooting him and you will own. They are less effective in open areas however are still hard 2 hit because of them being bouncy and not overly large or small. You don’t really need a buddy to take them out but it cant hurt, keep 1 of you behind him and one in front (it also stops him bouncing away when he is on low health. Use burst and just open trigger.
Goons ok these mothers are hard. A good goon can take on a b-suit and win ok these guys in a sense are easier and harder to effectively dodge than dretches, the reasons are:
1) They have to click to attack, so it can’t get away with just running into you. However this is also harder because they do so much more damage if they hit you. Essentially you do the same as a dretch, counter his moves with circling thrown in I don’t know why people say to get behind them… sure its good and ESP. If you can stay behind them but a good goon blocks your every move if you don’t understand spec me training against a guy in my clan an you will see what I mean. Anyway back to the point, you stand more of a chance against a goon in an open space, more room to move so if you don’t feel confident in your abilities at dodging stick to more open areas. You are better off taking 1 or more people to kill a goon, the reason being is he may not be able to just choose 1 of you 2 go after. So to do this all move around swirling switching positions to confuse him. But you wont always have buddies so dodge jump circle and keep away from his jaws. There is another strategy but I wont go into detail, for some reason if you get right up in his face he cant always hit you, this can sometimes save your life. Don’t use burst fire ineffective
Rants ok against a really good one of these you are pretty much screwed 1stly conventional dodging methods don’t work because of their longer attacking range, so to dodge these guys you have to use a combination of getting right up close, getting behind him as well a circling and keeping him confused as to where you are. I cant really explain it so if you spec me in the game I will try and show you what I mean to kill them just hold that trigger down and hope that fucking wall doesn’t get in the way again.
Ok the general rule for fighting aliens is watch what they do and do the opposite they move forward, you move back, they go to your left, you go right. Don’t assume they are going to do one thing, watch what they do and act on that move. Don’t try to get behind unless it’s a dretch, Maura or lisk the others are big and can block you easily. Hope this helps all. If you disagree with any of this tell me why and Ill be happy to listen and perhaps change it to your advice.
1 more thing if you are fighting more than one opponent and 1 is a big sucker and the other is a dretch, take out the dretch 1st this in my opinion is important because you can easily dodge the big sucka rather than the dretch. if you focus on the big guy and forget about the dretch, the dretch can use this against you and do hit and runs while your fighting the big guy, this can drain your much needed hp
