(Solved) CL_Parsegamestate:bad command byte
« on: January 14, 2008, 07:21:41 pm »
I've searched around these forums a bit and even google'd the problem but it only gives me links to COD and it refers to custom map issues.

Anyway, the problem is, when I try to join the -High Build Points- server it gives me the old "awaiting game state" prompt then after a short while it takes me back to the main menu and gives me the following error: CL_Parsegamestate:bad command byte

The server is currently running ATCS, the game type I believe is "brandon" not base and it's always worked for me before, I don't know if perhaps there's a server side problem or is it just me?

Any insight would be helpful, thank you.

This is a typical error caused by incorrect backporting, if I remember correctly - which means that most likely the server has an issue.
It would of course help if you told us a) which client you are using and b) whether anyone else can connect.

Well the thing is I do not know if anyone else can connect, I doubt it though being the times I tried it was empty.

And I'm not exactly sure what client I'm using either, I got it from these forums never really checked, and, it worked perfectly fine before, have no idea why it would cause a problem now.

Wait, I found the zip file, it's: backport-svn931-4-win32.zip

p.s. I'm on vista, have played trem for a long time with out any problems but this backport actually fixed some gamma ray issues I had before. I can also connect to other servers so I still think it's a server side problem.

Edit -

For future reference: The problem was a saved layout in the atcs map. Got rid of the layout now the server runs fine.
