Letting people think up obituaries usually has a very bad result. This is mostly due to the serious lack of 'sense' for words that people have. Just reading through these posts dramatically proves my point.

X vaporized his own legs. (Luci suicide)
X got a close look at Y's painsaw.
X set himself on fire.
X tried to put the pin back in. (I love it, repost)
X was blown up by Y's grenade. (KISS)
X became the entree at Y's barbecue. (Flamer hit)
X tried to warm up to Y's flamer. (Flame splash)
Y didn't need any ammo to blast X to bits. (blaster)

X drowned. (KISS again)
X was reacquainted with gravity.
X wanted to end the pain (/kill)

X was between Y's tyrant and a hard place. (Trample)
X didn't know Y's spittle could actually kill him. (granger spit)

X drowned <- Are you seriously suggesting we get rid of "X forgot to pack a snorkel"?

No, I would like it if each cause of death had TWO messages.
Variety is the spice of life, after all.

In that case, can anybody post the defaults? It would be nice to compare with the suggestions posted here, and would help with compiling a list, if someone were inclined to start a project like this. Making a master alternate list could be fun, and the basis for some future meta-poll, however meaningless.

x didn't notice y biting his head --dretch kill.

Pfft all they have to do is manage a flying headbite, land on the ground behind you while facing your legs, and you're done for.

X thinks we need to show the Aliens more understanding (rant'd) [he's standing under one now] :)

Poor X; Y can't figure out who the Red team is <X tk'd by Y>

Or, Poor X; Y can't tell humans from Aliens. <X tk'd by Y>

 :)

i was going for the obscure non-Tremulous reference, as a nod-and-wink to the knowledgeable insider, like you, right?

There are no flying Aliens in Tremulous, X <Alien falling death, the stupidest death a wallwalking species can possibly suffer>

@mod lc: hereinunder submitted, see above

@OPTI: finally read it lol'd curse u

i dont think any alien(besides S1 granger) is even capable of suffering a death caused by height

Only s1 grangers can die from falling, and it's still pretty damn hard. (Take falling off the huge stairs in karith by the aliens base. jumping from the top down to the bottom as a granger loses you ((about)) 4 hp.)

In Ancient Remains there is a pit in the Alien default base that dretches can fall into and die. (I'm pretty sure that's Ancient Remains.)

the alien default base is outside, and there ain't no pit there.

The maximum fall damage for granger is 10, I've seen the code, as well as tried it on both pushcannon and rotcannon.
