Devmod is awsome!

I got a chance to play quite a few games on [MG] Development Server this weekend, and I noticed that some of the people who were trying the new changes for the first time said "Wow! This mod is awesome!" (I agree).

I especially like the building changes--what used to be an impenetrable human base is just a chain reaction waiting to happen, so people are going to have to learn to build all over again instead of just making the same base every level.  And since granger can slash humans, and blaster can take out a dretch in two shots, building is not so boring and builders can actually leave the base and protect the structures they are putting up.  The half-sentient barricades are also a nice touch.

I played on both sides and I don't think aliens are nerfed too much since they have sweet new abilities like splash-damage goon barbs and killer basilisks; and you can fly through the human base before the turrets warm up, so naked humans don't have to leave the base to be feeders  :laugh:

So I just wanted to say to the devs Good Work!

you forgot to mention one of my favorite changes: headshots on naked humans do 1.5x damage instead of 2x (though this does make feeding on builders inside their base a bit harder, but i'll live), helmet/bsuit are nerfed so overall headshot damage stays the same with head protection.

wha?? so has the helmet gained any other ability, or become cheaper? because now there is only one reason to buy it: radar, but frankly without the added protection I'd just save that 90 cred for a better gun

wha?? so has the helmet gained any other ability, or become cheaper? because now there is only one reason to buy it: radar, but frankly without the added protection I'd just save that 90 cred for a better gun
helmet damage reduction is the same...you take slightly less damage without a helmet (goons still instagib s1 humans, but you no longer have to worry about going back to base JUST because you took some fall damage or caught a stray bullet putting you below 97)

esc->help shows a listing of most changes in laymen's terms, you can check out the svn changelog for more technical and complete details.

Dretches are smaller, so it is actually harder to hit with the blaster. Though blaster bullet is faster. (I think)

Originally, Dretch had 25 hp and blaster did 9 damage, in tjw Dretch had hp once booster to 30, blaster damage was raised to 10 so they could still 3-hit kill dretch, dretch hp was lowered back down to 25, blaster was left at 10 as it wasn't game-breaking, later on mdev dretch hp was lowered to 20, so now blaster does 2-shot kills against dretch.

actually dretch hp has been as high as 50 :P

I've allways thought a 500 hp dretch would be the best class ever (well duh) but compared to anything else with that hp.

Hard to hit, fast high damage, and 500 hp....  ;D

I remember that, but 50 hp was only for a single version, if I recall correctly.

I like it all, except for the console/chat/dialogue font. But I think that's just a matter of getting used to it.
