We could go researching tech and stages.

Okay, Humans are stage one, and they're faced with a dilemma. They want to research stage two, but first they need to research two stage one technologies. They have the choice between the chaingun, shotgun, lasgun, and battery pack. Once they've researched two of those, they can start researching stage two. At stage two, since there's more things to research (defcomp, flamer, helmet, grenade, pulse rifle) they have to research three things. At stage three, everything becomes available.

the only thing that you are forgetting... it will be a hell a lot of a mod to put all the new weps in, balance it and rest.

Id rather go with researching the current techs, and possibly improved attributes, but nothing more. Otherwise you are making 2.0 Trem

I believe Plague Bringer has some input on the techtrees. ;D

P.S. Sorry for the huge diversion. Once I realized how much stuff was still left unused from Q3a, I just had to see if could make a usable list. Aside from the massive amount of work it would take, what do you think of the idea overall? Industrial waste? Robot factory (techhead's idea)? Juggernaut/Berserker (Plague Bringer's idea)?

P.P.S. Please explain more what you mean by improved attributes. That sounds intriguing... :)

Well,

1) I am not the best coder around here
2) But I am able to make things that work (*hopefully)


3) The research mod, will be a client-side mod, since the menus are handled on the client-side. I might find a hack to make it server-side only, but we will see.

4) I am looking forward to  code a simple tech-tree research mod, and I am willing to do the sentinel factory for robots. If the models are going to be provided.

As for the rest... I am not really the one who will be able to start a whole new mod from scratch. And btw, Q3 textures are not GPLed, only the code is.


Improved attributes, for example :

LT shotgun (5 pellets, 6 dmg each) Shotgun (8 pellets 7 dmg each) Hvy Shotgun (10 pellets 8 dmg each, higher spread).

and just things which you can always find in strategy games.
