new buildings
« on: February 18, 2008, 09:41:27 pm »
i Was thinking about some different buildings. 2 for human and 1 alien.

For the humans i was thinking about a "radioactive ammo depot". basicly poisons your ammunition and causes aliens to take damage. the only way to be cured is to visit OM or booster. This would be useful to stop aliens from camping outside base. Another human building would be a manable gun turret. it would be very powerful like a chaingun but more accurate. the catch is that it is useless unless someone mans it and costs alot of bp (16-12). It would also give 1 evo

For the alien i was thinking about hive :hive: and how they kinda suck, then i thought of a new building. I was thinking of poison acids. these acids would cost 10 bp and do a little more damge but poison the enemy like a booster. this would be useful rather then the hive.

Give feed back plz :D

Radioactive Ammo Depot:
It is a rather good idea for stopping the camping, but for smaller aliens (Mara, Basi, Dretch) this radioactiveness just takes away their ability to heal themselves.
This forces he larger aliens to bugger off back to their den for at least a small amount of time, while the smaller ones are at heightened risk.

Gun Turret:
This would be cool, as well as this, it would also be sadly overpowered, though, admittedly, the more I think of it, I start to reason that these 16 BPs are essentially useless if no-one is manning this turret, and that may be crucial in an alien rush, as every turret is valuable then, and yopu cant afford to have useless BPs.
However, my other side says that ths will lead the humans to building chokepoints, where nothing can break through.

So, ultimately, I think that this is a good idea, but shouldnt be implemented into the normal build menu.
Instead, in GTKRadient (Mapping Program) it would add degrees of single player and fortress defence to maps if you could spawn Manable Turrets that could not be rebuilt.
Map design is left to the discretio of the mapper.

Alien Building:
Im sorry, bu the hive is actually extremely deadly when used in conjunction with trappers, but without trappers and a good position, yes, they are as useless as an inflatable anchor. But then again, so it the acid tube, the trapper, machine guns, and all the rest. Basically, what Im saying is that it takes skill to utilize the full potential of these buildings, so get out and learn.

Ultimately, to help these projects go along, you can:
  • Create good, informative concept art.
  • Create Models
  • Code stuff
  • Think a lot about balance and write a informative guide to what needs to be done, and how this would balance.
  • Suck up to someone who can to one of the above.

i know that hives are good but are often the main target once found. with, for example, the poison tube, it would blend in perfectly and could not be singled out.

slightly edit'd since I'm in a beneficent mood (or at least I think I am)

This would be the most considered, non-flaming reply that you are probably going to get. As someone who also likes to post silly ideas about how the game should be changed, I'd just like to say that having this thread as your initial post on these forums probably means that people are not going to suddenly consider your idea, and say how much Tremulous sucked until you came along, Our Saviour. I'd lurk a bit, ask some technical questions, get in a few good one-liners in OT or GD, maybe help someone who is less able to get Tremulous to work for them, then jump in with great ideas about how to make the game so much better. My first post was as if to say: Hello, n00b, prepare for the flames... (they eat people like you for breakfast around here)

By the way, in that first picture that big red demon is Lava Croft, and the little pixie he's eating is you. Watch your ass.  ;)

All fun intended, Lava. We love you.

This isn't actually that bad. It's not "omg add the protos/predators/tanks" or anything. Sure, the state of things is that nobody will do it, but they're not awful ideas.

Remember when Norf posted in this feedback forum about how we shouldn't automatically flame anyone that posts anything in it? Yeah. Me too.

If the radioactivity did nothing but stop regen until removed, hey, that would be useful enough to me.

the radioactive ammo deport is kinda a good idea but i request that it not be the armory that gives you radioactive bullets but a radioactive pack like a battery pack. This will poison ailens there health will still regain so the bigger aliens it will have little effect but will be deadly to the smaller ones .  i don't think that it should work with battery weapons only with ones that have bullets(so no flamers or psaws)
comments for idea 2
please don't give humans another reason to camp plz!!!!!!!!!

OK, I really would, but two things.

1) Use punctuation and grammar if you really want a response. Otherwise we tend to think you are just a sock-puppet spam account, and no one will take you seriously.

2) No one will take you seriously anyway. No, just kidding. See number 1, and the above general responses. The radioactive ammo idea could be cool if combined with some other mods, but to tell you the truth your reply is such a mess it isn't worth my time to try to figure out what you are saying. Seriously, stop destroying the English language so wantonly. Learn to use the "Modify" button. Edit, my friend. Then edit again. Then we'll talk about your ideas. Right now we can't parse your ideas from the disrespect you show our eyes.

Cheers!
