Alright, I'd hoped one of the more veteran mappers would have posted something somewhat nice here by now, but I fear it's not happening.
Geekboy, you did better than I would have. I know this because I've never mapped before. It looks like you at least got it to compile, and I doubt I could without a lot of hair pulling. Considering the amount of people I've seen post problems even getting that far, that says something at least.
The problem is, it's a well discussed fact here on these forums that if you're mapping for the first time, you don't release your first map. Because this is the kind of response you're likely to get - a lot of people ripping you to shreds, while you're thinking about all the work you put into it. Now, both sides are right - it may have taken you a lot of work to get this far, but the fact remains there's a lot more work to get as far as something like Nexus, Station15, Ancient Remains and all of the maps you've seen and thought "Wow, I want to do that!"
I'm sorry that it seems most of the replies (except RedGuff's) weren't very constructive, and hope you'll keep working at it. Remember, everyone had to start somewhere, I'm sure the best of mappers churned out some complete crap before they got to the point where they are today (the difference is, they either deleted it, never released it, or nobody remembers now) :>
In an effort to keep the bashing to a minimum (though I probably should've done this a while ago), I'm locking this thread - if Geekboy would like me to reopen it for more comments, send me a PM and I'll do so. But a lot of what I saw here doesn't speak much to the "friendly community" I hear people talk about...
