Please don't use all caps. Doing this is as if to put a "Skip Me" on your thread.
To make a demo, in game open your console by hitting the tilde key (`) and then typing /record [name] (For example /record [^ITC]Master) After you have finished recording, do /stoprecord. This will end your demo. To "convert" this into an actual (but crappy) video, you load up the demo using /demo [name] (/demo [^ITC]Master) and then do in the console /video [name].

The output is a badly encoded .avi
To view your badly encoded .avi, download a progrm called VLC media player (free) as Windows Media Player will believe your video to be corrupt.
You an also just do a direct video movie by bypassing the /demo and skipping to /video (You'll get extremely bad frame rates, essentially unplayable)

I'd suggest using something like FRAPs.
However if you are to poor/cheap/not able to, see above.

your client will probably refuse to let you do that.

I think maybe this should go in a sticky, I'll put it in the tips for noobies sticky and hope it gets put up on the first post. Ive seen a lot of questions about making "movies" and I know it took me a while to figure it out.

Also don't forget to set g_synchronousClients 1 before recording to get a smoother record.

i dont want a demo i want a video and i dont find a folder any where called [the name of my video]

This is what you do:

Step 1: While playing in the game, in console type /record nameofdemo. A big red dot, like on a video camera should appear in the top right corner of your screen.

Step 2: When finished recording go back into console and type /stoprecord

Step 3: Go back to the main menu of Tremulous

Step 4: Type /demo nameofvideo <- the recording you just took should start playing

Step 5: When it starts playing, put down the console and type /video videonamehere  <- this creates you video

While the demo is playing, try not to press random keys except the ~ key to bring down console. If you do this, the demo will stop playing and you will be back at the main menu.

Step 6: Then, if you are using Windows, go to C:/Documents and Settings/username/Local Settings/Application Data/Tremulous/base/videos

The folder in italics is a hidden folder, to see it go to Tools -> Folder Options -> View -> then select the option that says Show Hidden Files and Folders

Mac and linux directions to come but i doubt you would need them

I would also like to know what program is needed to modify it or to change a movie into that format.

Circle

Not sure you are supposed to...

If you really wanted to, i'm guessing it is in the Data.pk3> Videos > Splash.roq

guys, he doesnt want to know how to make a demo... read. This topic should be closed as Im sure its just going to become spam from here out.

NOT_KNOWN

I went online and found out how to do videos and save them but everytime i try to play my save video it would say:
And Also It Is A DM_69 File Not A WMV file.

But It Said:

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.

What Should I Do?

And Why Is The File A DM_69 File Not A WMV File.
