how is this game a rts and fps? could you explain that? and i like big learning curve games instead of a game a 8 year old can pick up and just start killing everybody but it would be great if you guys could throw me a few pointers would appreciate it  ;D oh and does this game have a decently active community?

Read the manual... If not you probly get flamed in game or vote kicked by players that get annoyed by stupid questions or just because you are newbie.

Q to use structures if there is need to (armory, reactor, repeater and hover) and to evolve.
Don't use construction kit before you are aware how the buildings work.
Never waste the life. Your death brings enemy closer to next stage and give credits (on alien side one evo to best damager) to those that have damaged you when you die.
don't waste your money on big guns if you can't yet get head protection. You just get killed from head bites.

Most of your answers are around already. Lesson #1 is looking for them and not making other people do the work for you. Thats good to remember for when you actually get the game running. If you have an issue getting the game running search through troubleshooting. Read the stickies and the manual. The strategy section may to do you a lot of good.

Welcome to tremulous, Blue_Leader.
Just connect to a server with a low ping, say "hi" when entering the game, don't block your teammates way and kill some enemies. Spectating good players is nice too. And it takes time to become a decent player.

Two posts above yours is a sticky labeled Introductory Guide.  I'm curious why you can't be bothered to read it?  You would find a link to the official manual and to www.tremwiki.com which is even a better reference that many people have spent a good deal of time compiling just to avoid these type of posts.  In turn there are several other good wikis out there that include-

Tremulous does have a bit of a steep learning curve especially when game etiquette is considered.  Way more than can be covered in a few posts.  Please read up.

3 Top Rules:

1: Never flame at someone for losing or not telling you how to play.

2: Always have a positive attitude towards players and teammates.

3: Parctice Alot, Play with good players and have fun.

p.s. I am willing to help you getting better and show you the game. Just search me in «Find a Friend».

Ive still got scars from it, check my pic:

[Insert Shark Attack Victim Pic Here]

(I havent included pic because it is too disgusting and really poor humour, nevertheless, you are free to use your minds eye, giblets, giblets...)
My favorite player is Jesus, because everything is forgiven when he respawns.

at stage1.
if you need evolvepoints/credits with fun, fast and easy kills, i think best ways to get them is using rifle or dretch (or other stuff if u like)

reason1 about rifle: enuf good accuracy,
reason2:(enuf) good clip size,
reason3: (if good player, easily) can kill dragoon and other aliens(i dont think it can kill tyrant :D)
reason4:good group of rifle mans pwn easily...(but can still be killed easily though  :P )

reason1 about dretch:small
reason2: fast
reason3: VERY lethal if you know how to use it well
reason4: headbite from the floor  :D :D :D
reason5:can kill helmet humans too (reguires luck/skill)... can kill battlesuit players too(reguires luck/skills too)
reason6:can go into small places and hide there  :P

so..... what do yea say?  d(+_+)b
