Both sides human?

I really like the base building concept of tremulous and would like to make a mod, or a patch that would enable both sides to be human. I think this would be very fun.

This has been asked for many times. I personally might try it if such mod would exist but surely prefer trem 1.1 over it. I assure you that it gets good response for about 10% of community but most likely just handful of players will be active players.

Yeah, it's been discussed a few thousand times, and if you'd like to make it, you're free to try. For me, it would be too much like so many other games, that it wouldn't be Tremulous anymore. I like the asymmetry of the teams. Tribes may not be open source, but I believe they were practically giving it away last year. My point is not whether it would be open source or not, my point is that HvH with bases and buildables has been done, and instead of investing all your time making something which would have a dubious payoff at best, you can just go download that for free and play today. If the open source nature of Tremulous excites you enough to attempt this, I say godspeed. Good luck. I just think you will be spending time doing something that isn't worth doing. That's my personal opinion, and if you don't agree, you're fully free to do as you like.

P.S. I notice that no one ever mentions making a mod where Aliens can play against Aliens. The fascination with all-Human Tremulous seems to me to be the mark of those who are new to the game, and haven't yet overcome the steep learning curve.

P.P.S. I played Tribes about ten years ago, so the idea of Humans vs. Humans with bases and buildables is so last century that it just doesn't excite me at all. Again, to each his own. If you build it, they may play.

Ok, so from what i see here two human sides is not very interesting to most people. What about an alien side that humaniod with their own unique technology and weapons.

P.S. I know how to play as aliens, I find the alien buildings boring, and it's the buying and unique combinations you can make as humans that i find interesting.

Again, I would say that the thing that makes Trem so cool is that the two sides are so different; if you could make one side similar, but still unique enough to offer a fresh take on gameplay, that could make an interesting mod. Sounds like a heck of a lot of work, unless you know a good modeler or three, and coder or two.

Like I said good luck with it. If its cool, people will play it.

Just didn't want you to spend a whole bunch of time making a HvH mod just to get flamed and have next to nobody play it. Wasn't sure if you knew of the community's general feelings about a HvH mod. Hey, prove us wrong, make something so great even the naysayers play it.

Yeah i agree. I think it would be fun and it would make tremulous a better fps.  Imagine ducking behind a barrel as a battle suit thunders by....
It would certainly be cool, but the maps would have to be better as so far there are very little outdoor maps.  Also a sniper rifle would be nice with some kind of scope reticle unlike the mass driver.

I also agree with mooseberry. Humanoid aliens would be very fun to play against if they had their own weapons. Also it would be better if the weapons were free (meaning they could be picked up from a friend) with the armoury being a room with the walls lined with these weapon to be picked up.  Also a sniper rifle would be nice.
