Tremulous Comics
« on: March 07, 2008, 01:13:01 am »
Hey guys. Just wanted to let you all know about some comics I started up (chemistry is really boring) modeled off of how Rooster Teath made Red vs. Blue from Halo. So please register on the forums and give me a little feed back. Please don't flame if you don't like them just tell what you didn't like and I'll try to improve.

Seems kind of random.

Not a fan of the music.

do you think the whole site is random or just the comics themselves?

HEY GUYS, KNOW WHAT I MISS FROM THE LATE 90'S? ANNOYING EMBEDDED MUSIC ON EVERY WEBPAGE. GOSH THAT WAS SUCH A GREAT IDEA, I SHOULD BRING IT BACK FOR MY SITE.

Also, flash websites make my brain hurt.

Okay, now - having actually read the comics - some observations and advice:

1.) I didn't even smile while reading the three comics you've posted there so far.
2.) No one besides thirteen-year-olds find things like "OMG MY CHEESE!!!!!11one SO RANDOM LOL EXPLOSIONS THE DRETCH GOT AWAY" funny, unless it's inherent unfunniness is being very cleverly satired. If this is satire (and that seems doubtful), it's certainly not very clever.
3.) The use of chatspeak in an attempt to make the people look stupid and make it appear to be a public game of Tremulous(? That's what you're attempting here, right?) comes off as both forced and annoying.
4.) You clearly have no sense of how to utilize panel layouts and text in a comic.

Now, I'm not saying, by any means, that you should stop making your comic. I'm only saying that, as it stands, it's fairly horrible and could be done better.

tl;dr: Your comic is bad and you should feel bad.

i say that this comic is very cute :-)

i DID laugh, at the end when the guy says: "WOOT I ARE PWNZOR!"

i agree that it's very basic and a bit primitive but i guess the author is young dretch who can be a tyrant someday.

and you have to admit that many people are behaving just like this ingame.

not to mention that i remember when i was young and i was laughing out my ass on the word 'cheese' without any particulas cause.

alcoholfree beer to the artist! ^^

eh I will admit that the comics appeal to a younger audience; the and the reason for the embeded music is just because I like that song. The art sucks because I was just trying to simplify it to go faster in the process of making the comic, and if you want to see some of my better drawings check out this site. . .http://doittoit.deviantart.com

If "younger" means early teens with ADHD, then I've no argument about that. At least you admit it.

and the reason for the embeded music is just because I like that song

That's nice and all, and if you wanted to make a personal site I would advocate that you put whatever horrible music you prefer all over it. However, if you're making something that you want other people to read, it's a big faux pas in modern webdesign to put embedded music into the page - especially something loud, fast, annoying, and distracting.

The art sucks because I was just trying to simplify it to go faster in the process of making the comic

Yeah, I can understand that. The wonderful thing about comics is that art doesn't have to be great as long as the comics are funny (or they achieve another emotion that the artist/writer wanted to convey). However, art that is lacking requires even more of an effort on the other side of the equation, which you clearly have problems producing.

Again, I'm not advocating at all that you don't continue. I made horrible comics not unlike these in junior high and my first couple of years of high school that I thought were hillarious at the time, but now cringe whenever I think back about them. Not everyone's a Katie Tiedrich, y'know?

Ultimately you should just keep doing whatever you like to do, and what makes you happy. You wanted opinions, though. :)

Also, there are a few sites that are organized entirely around free hosting for webcomics that would likely be more fitting than a general free-webhosting site built around Flash (good for some things, absolutely horrible for this particular instance).

atom eve, do you have the links to some of the web comic hosting sites by any chance?

http://www.comicgenesis.com/
http://drunkduck.com/
http://www.smackjeeves.com/

Those are just three I know off the top of my head. There might be more, and I'm sure a Google search for "free webcomic hosting" may find more that I don't know of. Cheers.

my suspections about Eve being Lava's fake account is slowly turning to being Player One's :-)

or what is more likely, that Eve holds theese two puppets to undermine the forum first, then she manifests herself.

Heh, nice.

The comics, however, were, as said previously, not very sophisticated. Try to think of something funny and adept it to Tremulous, rather than have Tremulous played out as a comic.

Oh, and btw, like my comma-spam?

I have always wanted to say this, just that i started to want it AFTER he went missing.. >.>
Blasted sucked balls.
Now, i was amused by Atom Eve, although a little put back by the savagery of the flames.
But after all....
..This is what makes the forums LIVE AND BREATHE.
What would the forums be without trolls? (or trollish rants by normal people, we all got the troll in us.)
They would be goddamned dull.
So in his/her honor:
Atom Eve goes powerhulking on tremulous.net!

And yeah, Sticks... Naturally, when i did not like blasted, with its sodden internet clichè humor: I did not like yours either. Nothing personal... I have made crap too, and I have learnt from my mistakes: do not post your below average stuff on the web for you will burn in trollish fire.
