trigger based alien/human stage change
« on: May 30, 2006, 02:04:35 pm »
It could be a good thing to allow mappers to decide when stages are reached.
For the moment, it is based on kills ( that are configurable in worldspawn ). The idea is to base stages with a trigger too, it can allow mappers to delimit some objectives. the opposit of trigger_stage.
For exemple, I think about a place ( weapon/jetpack/... wearhouse ) in the map that is well-guarded by alien team, and this place have to be reached by humans to access the next stage. ( same system for alien team )

interesting idea... but not by 'reach a certain place'.

could do some interesting stuff where as the game goes on, the map changes (doors open and close, closed off rooms are gassed to kill anyone inside), and you auto-stage at certain points.

i think that stage 1, aliens guard a supply crate, humans guard some alien mothegg thing. If humans destroy the "Weeds" around the supply crate, they get s2. Motheregg is in a cage or something, aliens destory cage, they get s2. When a group reaches s2,a door on some other random end of the map is opened allowing for that group to attempt s3. Inside the doors is a base similar to the premade one that teams start out with at spawn. Teams could choose to deconstruct to leave intact their first base intact, (a conquored  base would serve no real purpose except survival as there would be nothing to protect after the supply crate/motheregg has been freed.)...
