sv_wwwFallbackURL
« on: March 18, 2008, 05:23:00 am »
Ive seen sv_wwwFallbackURL (without any values) in some server.cfg files. Does it exist?, is there a way to make it work? i would like to use multiple map reps, for when one map does not exist in certain site, it will redirect clients to an secondary place.
Thanks in advance

nope, this would require cooperation from clients. some clients do support http redirects, but that doesn't really help you

Ok let's plan it out. Asva, you are nub, go sit on rets, I will build, you two go feed like hell, you go pwn their asses, and everyone else camp in the hallway, roger?

hmmm :-\
thanks tho.
Now, i thought of a possible solution =D
Make the server check if a certain file is on a certain www base, if not use a different wwwbaseurl =)
is that possible by customizing the game.qvm? (if so ill have to learn to code it =P)

game.qvm can't check if a file exists on a webserver, the server binary can but that's a pain. i would do it with shell scripts.

Easiest way is to just use downloads.mercenariesguild.net
If there are any maps that aren't there, say and we'll add them.
Any maps not in the MG repo?  Email me or come to irc.freenode.net/#mg.

They have instant upload now?  What happened to them screening all the files?

No idea.  Doubt anyone has ever submitted it, what with how no servers use it.
