« on: March 24, 2008, 09:38:25 pm »
hi,

what is the derivative of:
d/dx arcsec(4x+3)?
I also want to know the integral of
1 / (x^2+4x-9)^(1/2) dx

Thank you,

Man, if you'd spent the time that you keep coming back into #tremulous and asking math questions actually *learning* how to do derivatives, you'd probably know the answers to these already.

Wow, I've officially forgotten most of the calculus I ever knew.

Is the OP using the carat because he doesn't realize Simple Machines offers superscript1 and text sizing?

1Example given.

@OP: I recommend finding the area under the curve represented by the average sarcasm of the above posts.

This forum (well, entire website) is about a video game called "Tremulous".

I think that a website about math would be of more use to you. Try here: http://mathworld.wolfram.com/

Let S equal the total amount of sarcasm, where a is the initial post, and b represents the locking post, graphed as a function of x, namely f(x), where x represents the time wasted seeking such answers here, and y represents the OP's average frustration quotient, or FQ. Note that frustration vs. time wasted produces a sinusoidal wave of expectancy that the question may be answered correctly, which forms the upper limit of the area of sarcasm.

I laughed so hard.

He's banned in #math.  Or so he keeps saying.

Aw, I wanted to get him to say it. :( It's just not the same this way.

theLichKing makes me sad.

The derivative of arcsecant is fairly straightforward.  It's the sort of thing that even tends to be listed in the front cover of the textbook.

Or hell, you can even type "integration" into Google.

@theLichKing: Since you are banned from the Tremulous IRC channel for the exact same actions as you exercise here, I lock this topic and hope you will refrain from boring us with your math questions. If you do not, your IRC ban will be extended to the forums.
