windows problem
« on: March 25, 2008, 03:39:40 pm »
My compy runs win xp home.  I don't personally have the internet and my computer got connected to the internet at my brothers house and apparently auto updating was on.  It updated, but halfway through, it crashed.  We gave it the button of death, and rebooted.  Then it started updating again.  It asked us to restart.  We restarted and the boot files were corrupted.  We used ubuntu to replace the boot files.  We could start to boot windows, but after 10 seconds of loading, the animating bar would stop and the computer would stop working.  We dont have the actuall windows xp home edition cd that we would have used to repair it.  So the only option we had was to install windows pro that my brother had on a different partition.  I believe that we can fix home if i borrow my friends disc, but can i uninstall windows xp pro so my brother can install it on a different computer?  I know that there are some techs here that could help me.  Plz do.
