Level 1 granger- need help...

I know that the human/allien balance is pretty good now, but I suggest that Basic Grangers need some improvement...

As it is they can do nothing to damage anyone.
I know people shouldnt use grangers to attack, but on low pop server if a granger is stuck trying to defend it would be nice if they either had:

- one of their two attack they get at advanced (either the bite or the spit)

or

- could damage humans by touching them a la dretch.

They are too slow to use as much of an offensive class and so they would not be useful at attacking while S1 (not that they are later either), but it would allow them to defend, or at least be able to slightly deter a early rushing human.
(I wouls think granting the bite at s1 and then adding spit and climb at s2 would seem the least altering and would deal with this fact...)

Or give the hovel at S1, minus the ability to explode.. so that grangers could hide while the base is being chewed on.

On the other hand, from a human perspective, if you have the gonads to run into the alien base early (s1) then you should at least get the benefit of an easy kill on a granger.  Chances are it won't be long before a dretch comes along and bites your face.

I don't think it really matters.

Granger bites do what, 20 damage, and the spit does 4 or so? (I couldn't find the thread with weapon stats, so this is from memory).

I suppose it would be ok if Stage 1 Grangers could bite.  It's not like it would make any appreciable difference anyways.

Yeah thats all fine an good, but then what happens after you kill him...

you can't evo BACK to granger. (which makes sense because then you could use dretch to climb wall and then evo back to granger)

So now you can't build base, and the only way to get back to building is /kill (costing you an evo point if you have any) or let the humans kill you, giving them a point...

As someone pointed out the granger bite is like 20, not much, but it would make it possible to turn them, along with hopefully acid tubes...
maybe even just enough to make him run away and give the dretch time to get back and kill him...

Im the other way, I would love to see granger spit removed alltogether, too often at S3 you have 5 grangers blocking everything left and right, just to deliver a 4 pt spit, so many tyrants have died in order for some granger to crawl to the front and spit a few times ......

But I agree with the OP though, and would like to see the claw attack moved to S1, the human builder have a tiny gun, so its only fair the granger gets one too, and the ability to wallclimb is plenty for grangers on S2.

The point is alien bases don't need repairers. They start to regenerate once the attacker stops shooting them. Just annoy the humans long enough or even kill them. If you can't do that, there's no real reason why you shouldn't lose. Once you get marauder, it's humans who should tremble in fear :wink:

And now I declare that general consensus has been reached on this board that the marauder-class aliens are the best all-round evolution. It just seems that everyone agrees that they are the one alien class that doesn't really needs changing :).

Either that, or us marauder proponents are just the loudest.  

When I'm playing, most people evo to 'goon as soon as they can, usually leaving me as the lone marauder.  Which seems contrary to the noise on the board.

But they need builders.. unless you think thtat the default bases are fine.. (which they aren't, plus just the humans who are braven enough to attack the base, know to go for eggs first.

and I know that the spit means somepeople will use it to attack base, and sometimes they block, but blocking happens even if it an other tyrant...
besides the last thing grangers need is to be nerfed MORE...  :O
