playing online
« on: April 01, 2008, 03:27:43 pm »
Most of my internet access is at school.  I have a lot of free time and teachers who dont care that i play this locally with others.  I know there are 2 people who know how to get trem working online (i've seen them do it) but they wont tell anyone how to play online.  I know if i google how to play the game online, i could come up with a million answers that dont work.  I have tried your-freedom.net but it doesn't work.  My computer network admin is quite talented and not dumb (which is suprising).  Yet somehow, the students figured out how to get on.  Anyone have any ideas?

I suggest you get a small weapon that you can easily conceil, lure one of the two students to the far corner of the computer room and politely ask him to hand over the knowledge.

I suggest you view the profile of the person who is offering you advice to see if perhaps their comments are not indeed meant as sarcasm. (You could threaten to rat them out if they don't tell you the secret of the mystery, but the real secret about Tremulous is that if you're not cool enough to get it to run, then you're not cool enough to play it. Sorry, your friends just didn't have the heart to tell you, but since we're just faceless people on the Internet and we don't have to see your crushed hopes and dashed joy with our own eyes, we'll give you the real story.) Maybe if your friends see you make an effort to google it they'll help you. OK, now search away, and don't be afraid to ask questions in the Troubleshooting forum.

Ask what ports they use?
They might be using ports that aren't restricted by the network, but that would probably mess up compatibility with most servers...

player1, i realize he was sarcastic.  I'm not stupid.

our school has a pretty tight grip on it's security so i have no idea how they did it.  I dunno if it's ports but they can play any game online if they want.
