Sudden Fps drop

When
1.human structures explode
2.Above 5 acidtubes activated at the same time
3.Many Lucy spam,pulse spam , too many human shooting at the same time
fps drop obviously to 40-50fps , it is just like a choke, make players really uncomfortable.
Are there a method to limit the number of particles or lower the particles quality?Or are there anything players can do or this game programmer can do?

there are a couple fixes for this in svn but until that gets released you're stuck with this or getting a better cpu.

I suggest oyu look through the "r_*" cvars--one or more might have something to help you...
