Yes, quite frankly I'm fed up with that as well (especially when playing as human myself) - but the problem lies more between keyboard an chair than with the lucifer itself. So, would everyone who doesn't grasp the idea behind a crosshair and FF please trade in their lucifer for a wooden stick? You'll eventually kill one of your teammates just by a stroke of bad luck anyway, so no need to work for it. Sometimes getting out of the human base without being shot at repeatedly is such a feat in itself that I almost feel like celebrating that together with some aliens

yeah would be nice if primary fire required a full charge to be fired, rather than explode at max power have it fire, if button is released before then the charge cools down.

As it stands there's no point to the secondary fire other than to fire twice in 1 second :P

true, luci and pulse-spam must end!
I vote for enhanced FF-damage on lucifer and pulse, or limiting the firerate.

its not about making humans more powerfull but to limit real ugly SPAM of fire.
I played a game today on satgnu where half of the H team ended with -2 kills.
Newbies just fire around like in quake, without aiming, and its annoying to play games with such a team.
I leave 3 of 4 games i choose to participate, because the other ppl just wont listen and stop firing blindly everywhere, hitting structures, teammates and the holy god himself!

More and more people come to the AKKA server, asking if FF is on. And when we say 'no', they are delighted and start to play happily.
If you are forcing yourself to play on a FF enabled server, then it's totally your fault... Trem has many things that don't support FF on: splash-damage weapons for example. Try Quake 3 in FF on and you'll see...

Huh ?

This doesn't make sense ! First, trying Quake 3 with FF on doesn't mean anything to Tremulous. At best, you'll learn that you prefer to play Quake 3 with FF off. Second, saying that splash-damage weapons don't support FF on doesn't mean anything. As far as I know, splash-damage works perfectly on Tremulous with grenades and lucifer and the game never crashed for me or anything like that :D

Friendly Fire has nothing to do with self-damage. Secondly, TDM in FPS games is far from Trem. You don't help the opposing team in TDM games like in Trem (Stages, Credit...) when dying.

Yes, you are very clever. I've pointed out that with splash damage weapons FF should always be off. (Except for grenades, because you can't rapid-fire 'em). It's really nice to hear that many people support and want to have FF on, but they don't realise how many problems it causes. Oh, they do realise, when they get angry with spammers and with mean players who shoot their teammates.
They start playing on a FF enabled server, then change to a FF disabled server, after they get annoyed by idiots :D.

you'll get idiots on every server, ff has nothing to do with it ;)

I've left more FF off games than FF on, due to the fact that it teaches people to watch what they're doing. Besides even with FF off a luci spammer can still wipe out your base easily.

And what is the effect of a teamkill in tremulous anyway ? I'm sure it doesn't help the other team get closer to the next stage that's for sure ! As for preventing my team from reaching the next stage, the point is moot if it's a Lucifer teamkill I'm sure you can agree ;)

Myself, I'm already annoyed that the Lucifer doesn't do enouth self damage when fired on the ground. There's no way for me to be annoyed a human kills one of his friends with it while trying to "save" him from me :)

Like Lava told me, the best way to get away from a basilisk that is holding you, is to make a rocketjump with lucifer (for noobs, fire a full luci at your feet).
WTF a ROCKETJUMP ?! What is this? Quake?
Thats really LAME! I mean, a Lucifer has the power to blow away a Tyrant, and you fire it at your feet!

Hey, that is a different problem anyway :) For that case, I believe it's because firing on the ground gives you a leg hit which does reduced damage.

Yes, indeed. And a slightly-charged Luci can kill a Basilisk easily.

Yeah, you rip your legs off, still you loose only 10hp^^

Another point is that even with FF off, Luci is annoing.
If you shoot somenone, he will be pushed forward STRONGLY, right into the arms of the waiting goon/tyrant.
Its just crap, slowly i want to get rid of the lucifer completely.
Maybe give the massdriver more power, and push it to S3.

That's highly probable. The question is: Should splash-damage weapons work this way?
If my answer to your problem doesn't seem helpful, it means I won't help you until you show some effort to fix your problem yourself!
1.2.0 release's been delayed for 5:48:00 already because of stupid questions.

PErsonally I'd just be happy if they forced the primary fire of the weapon to only fire at full charge. Not the hold for a second release rapid fire which against a full health tyrant does in the range of 170 dmg. Considering it's rapid fire you have 2+ doing it and NOTHING can stand against it.

So many idiots on AKKA ask if FF is on. After you tell them it's off, they start defending the base with nades, lucies and flamers. Then they get angry cuz you lied to them about FF. How sad is this!? I think I'm ready to make the switch to private servers.
The public once have become very public.

That's funny, I was testing that and you can't fire the Luci without charging it at least somewhat. For the first fire, once it's done you can start rapid firing it at will. Might be a bug though :)

You forget that women are exchangable in 24h in any location of the world (without money-back guarantee), while Tremulous is not. :)
