Problems exec files.
« on: April 27, 2008, 06:05:59 am »
Hey all, I've tried to exec a txt file, I've put it inside the base folder, and the regular folder, but when I go into tremulous and try to exec it, it won't work. Where do I need to put the file? And do I have to rename it?

Thanks.

Or in coherent english, rename your file extension to .cfg, as opposed to .txt

on linux, u can just rename file extensions without any trouble, but on windows, u might have to go into control panel -> folder options -> view tab -> then uncheck "hide extensions for known file types"

actually when you drop down the menu in save as a unicode text file with the name as "filename.cfg"

heres an example of the one for my alien.cfg

I still can't exec the file, I successfully renamed it to <name>.cfg, and when I go into Tremulous, I still can't exec it. Although it says it's a cfg. file, it says it's a text document too.

that's because the default windows configuration removes extensions from files and refuses to let you change them (your file is named <name>.cfg.txt), i'll leave it up to someone who actually uses windows to explain how to disable that.

sometimes i have to go to the file and right click it then go to properties, rename it there allowing extensions; or set your computer to allow extentions in the control panel

Also, you need to set it to be plain text not Unicode.
