You only talk about one instance of camping. I don't approve of camping when you have the upper hand either. However, if there are a crapload of goons and tyrants vs a human team with low credits, I will not fault my team for wanting turret help.  I may linger near base when the aliens are looking ahead, but once the dretches start flooding in with little upper class aliens showing, then its time to start pushing forward. Camping is part of the game's strategy. Yes, it can be used incorrectly, but it can also be used for the purpose of helping your goal of killing the other team as well.

And of course I agree 100%.  Jal's attitude about camping got under my skin, and brought this frequent scenario to mind.  I didn't mean to be generalizing on the entire concept.  Obviously some human defense of a base is required.

However.

@Jal: Your "golden rule" is as fucking pathetic as your intellect.  Leaving your base doesn't automatically make you a feeder... in fact it's the only way to win (ie: killing the enemy's spawns).  While I agree with Equi that playing intelligently can/should include some base defense, this Jal prick is preaching straight up, total campage.  Which is exactly what my issue was with.

Jal, try going to a good server with good players and just spectate a bit.  What I think you will find is that the better players rarely camp (scrims as exception) and can throw up a passable base in under 3 minutes.  Teamwork is pretty important for humans, especially for players who haven't gotten very good yet.  Try getting a friend to play with you, you might be suprised to find that 2 of you with pretty much any gun (helm+armor) can take out a good player's goon if you just work together.  Even without any turret help.

LOL, you didn't understand my post at all. I didn't say I stayed in base (in fact I did say the opposite), but that aliens complaint of camping when they feel they are loosing, but that doesn't mean humans are camping ;)
I don't remember the last time I saw humans camping, tbh. I do see camping complaints everyday, but don't see camping. It's ridiculous to the point that I've read camping complains when I just took down their eggs.

Actually, many aliens have a more campish attitude than humans. They sit behind their corner and think that humans have the obligation to go there to feed them, and if humans choose to go elsewhere, they complaint of humans camping instead of stop camping themselves. This is what leads to that typical situation of seeing camping complaints while attacking aliens base.

And obviously I don't need to go seeing "the good players" as I'm good enough myself.

What I've seen for the past 2 years i've been playing trem is that in the beginning of the game, both teams rush each other and try to kill anything or anyone. Then about 5-10 minutes into the game, some alien(s) get a dragoon or a few and start beheading the humans one by one and people start to settle. Humans instantly become very protective of their base. Then, some group of humans decide that the path is safe and start their way to the alien base but to their demise, a goon jumps out of nowhere and eats them up. Eventually, that goon gets full of evo's and starts sharing to others. Now the aliens have multiple goons or maras and they crowd around exits of the humans' base. They wait for those heads to turn the corner and eat them up in less than 3 seconds. Now the humans are pressed down and can't do anything but step outside and feed. This is the part where most alien players say Campers! or Noob Campers or something in that respect. Here is the divide of camping and being pressed. You can press these humans so that they have no choice but to stay in their base and not feed or they can feed like idiots. Where this is different from camping is that camping is when the aliens aren't right outside the human base and they're not just waiting there. Camping for humans is basically when they have a chance to do something and don't want to do it due to fear of dying and losing credits or just being an idiot and staying in base. Aliens can camp as well in the same manner where humans get s3 and start attacking but in most cases, the aliens will just lose to the high firepower of the humans.

Thus why share is the cause of all camping.

David: Wrong.

If one human manages to kill a dragoon, then gets cash, buys armor, and kills another goon, his/her bank account would be max, while the teammates would be still flat out 0. If share was enabled, that human could share cash with others, and thus allow humans out of their base, without feeding.

Bull shit.
It takes well over 2 goons to fill your bank, and the whole point of humans is TEAM WORK.  If you all go you all get your creds.
The game is balanced for non-share, what with share being a mod.
Have you ever even played on a non-modded server with 12-16 players?

2 goons when those goons have repeatedly been eating your teammates, while getting filled with lead. From what i've seen, once a killwhore goes down, loads of cash bursts out. And yes, i've played on nonmodded servers. It sucks when only one guy has 2000 and the rest are naked. They would camp, while the one guy would have to do all the work by himself, as to avoid feeding the other team due to having no upgrades.

Then people are going to whine about humans feeding. People will always find something to complaint about.

I wish there was more reasons for running across the map than just attacking the enemy base.

I have always imagined a system where the land a team covers and occupies, the more resources they can get.  When the enemy covers the same area, then they start to gain resources instead of the other team.  Never tried to take it any further but some motivation to leave the base would be better.

The fact that the enemy spawns are not in your base is more than enough motivation to leave your base.

Just kidding but despite people camping we still enjoy playing Tremulous right? So why are we you whining?

Firstly, humans camp *behind* their defenses. Secondly, this will allow the aliens to kill the humans by simply running around their base. To conclude: that is a crap idea.
sorry but i have to agree with Taiyo.uk on this one

its simple but might work make it so turrets shoot at aliens even if there is a human standing in between them that way humans who camp get killed by there own base :)
1.that happened to me before on the 1 of the obby course servers
2.a way to make them come out from behind it,make a mod with turret recoil
         *shoot**bang*
ie:  :turret: :human:OH GOD ME FACE

or how in old western movies, the way the magnum's recoil is upwards kinda, why not turrets?

  :human:OH **** ME BA***
 :turret:

P.S.I put the *'s because i thought i would get banned again  :-\
