I'm working on a new map at the moment. So far, I have the bay doors all brushed up, and a lot of the hull completed. I still need to do a lot of it, and it still needs a bridge, bases, and a part where the aliens have landed 'pods', where the eggs will be.
This is the basic layout:

As you can see, I suck at that kind of thing, but you get the idea.
The bridge is going to be a valuable base. It has viewscreens, so you can spy on the enemy, doors that can be locked, and several vents large enough for a crouching human.
The engine room is also going to be a good base. It will have several places to put an Overmind or Reactor, and will also have a few view screens. These view screens will only show inside the engine room, however. The engine room door can lock.
The starting bases won't be too great. They'll have several large entrances, no doors, and a lot of vents.
The brig (near the engine room), will be an easter egg of sorts. You'll be able to lock your enemy in, and torture them in various ways.
Speaking of easter eggs, there will be several of them. There will be secret vents, secret passages, so on. Maybe I'll include an airlock, or a testing lab, where you'd be able to test things. I was thinking of putting in a forcefield contained liquid ball, an antigravity generator that makes you float, so on.
