How do I get new huds?

I'm running Ubuntu, and it won't let me touch any of the tremulous folders. It won't let me add or remove anything... so how do I get new huds?
The only way I can get new maps is for them to download through the client. Is there a way to do that with Huds and other mods?

Stick it in ~/.tremulous/base/
If you can't write there, then you have bigger problems.

Weird. When I try to Copy/Paste things into it, I get a message telling me that I don't have privileges to do that. If I just drag it into the folder it works.

Type gksudo nautilus in the terminal. You'll be prompted to enter your sudo/root password.
You'll then be able to do whatever you want in the open browser window.

(This is under the assumption you run GNOME)
