He's drawn his own tattoos and tattoos for others before(He's an art student, American Academy of Art), he hasn't actually tattooed anyone yet, hence the apprenticeship and why I don't have any on me yet. I'm waiting until I see him do some complex ones on real people before I'd ever trust him with a tattoo gun near me, but if he's working at the place then maybe he could get me a family discount or something and have someone who's pro do it. I still have a couple months until I could legally get one on my own anyways.
And yeah, I've seen his bills. They're not that outrageous when you take in that it's a permanent piece of artwork that took however many minutes/hours to do by hand and the cost of the equipment that's used to do it.
I like the simplicity of your tat with the single colour. I agree that the Quake 3 logo works best where you have, it, the Quake 1, 2, and 4 logos are more perfect of circles and would look odd wrapped around an arm.

Do you have any other ink?

I've been considering something off of this to incorporate both Quake and Linux, but it would have to be changed a lot, it would have to look more like a tattoo than a sticker:

The amount of ink on someone's body is directly link to their financial situation. Since I'm a poor sod, I only have one tat.

I did not meant that having a lot of money automagically means you have a lot of tats, I did mean that if you do not have a lot of money, it's quite impossible to have a lot of expensive tats.  :-\

You are ruining your body over fanboying a game/engine no one will know about in +20 years?

Because a tattoo is a matter of taste, the only thing I can say is that you should be happy you don't have it then! The next thing I know you are telling me that 'smoking kills'! I appreciate the concern about my wellbeing though, thank you.

Then you know very few white collars who will admit it to you. :)  I know many with tattoos, even work with them.  One I knew was covered in tattoos you couldn't see when he wore his suit, which was every day for work. :D

I do know a couple with tattoos, but I'd say that if I took a poll of people who work in offices and people who do manual labor jobs, the ones with manual labor jobs would be the ones with more ink.

More likely I'd say for them to have *a* tattoo, but a hundred times more likely for them to be *covered* in tattoos like so many bikers are :P

Your taste is your grave! ;-P I was more into the part of "no one will know what this is in 20+ years." I mean, a "heart" everyone will recognize even in 1000 years (lest we all be cyborgs then). Well, as I said, it is your grave... You could always explain to your grandchildren that it is an abstraction of a devils fork ;-PPP

It's not an abstraction of a devil's fork, it's an abstraction of the Quake 'Q' and the Roman number 'III'.

What the hell makes you assume I will have grandchildren? Why on earth are you even bothering with my tattoo this much, if you think it's so horrible, just stop looking at it!

i guess he is curious why does someone makes a tattoo of a computer game logo, and well, i also think its hilariously strange - while not bad at all, and more, definitely better than a "nonfi"(out here dudes call non-figurative tattoos like that).
instead of writing a badly punctuated essay about its possible reasons, i have to admit that i am curious too - without any sarcasm.

Did the completely strange thought ever occur to you otherworldly people that I might just like how the Quake3 logo looks? I know this sounds utterly outrageous, but that's just really how it is. I would have taken the Quake1 logo, but I found it did not fit my arm that well as a tattoo, while the Quake3 logo, with its centered 'III' shape fits my arm perfectly.

And 'hilariously strange', I don't know. Maybe that has something to do with the fact that you are just not that well known with the world of games, but I don't think it's that strange at all. People tend to tattoo stuff on their bodies that has a meaning to them, and since I have been playing id Software games since I was a young kid, the Quake3 logo has a meaning to me.

I guess it's safe to assume that you two do not have any tattoos yourself, because only people without a tattoo could ask questions like this.

i didn'T mean the question as teasing or harming, it was only curiosity, so you don't have to be so defensive. maybe i used the word hilarious in a misunderstandable way. i simply didn'T see any tattoos about gaming (although i've seen comic tattoos like Punisher, Snoopy or Spawn) yet.
it seems to me as a kind of obsession that's just as bitter as sweet, fitting into my utopia of a gamer generation.
I believe that we are living in a kind of "golden age of gaming" as the first and last generation who grew into (and with) computer entertainment technology. it's quite hard to imagine this amount of evolving of games in such a short period, especially as big companies are slowing down its process because of business issues (but still, i don't beleive that there will be any mayor change until touch- and smellable environments will be commonly spread).

P.S.: i play computer games since 1985... so i don'T think that i'm unfamiliar with gaming :-*

Too bad a picture is hardly proof when I do not see you on the picture as well. Apart from that, I find it 'hilariously funny' that in 23 years of gaming, I am the first person you see with a gaming tattoo. I think the first one I saw was a guy from the Dutch Official Nintendo Magazine, who has a huge Nintendo logo inked on his lower leg, in the early 90's. I think this is the one:

as i make my living partly on photoshopping, i doubt that my presence on any pictures could be a proof, but i am probably mirrored in the monitor :-) anyway if i wanted to lie, i would've probably photoshop some tats onto myself... :-S
but it's the machine i've been using since 1990 or something like that. the two cassettes on the sides are housemade games 'THE FOREIGN' and 'THE FOREIGN 2', the cover is b/w xeroxed and then colored with pen ^^ and i can tell you that the c64 currently out of order -.-'. as soon as fixed, i can see how does she loves that amplifier and the distortion pedal above (probably nohow, as i am not a geek).

probably i would've been quite happy at that time if i had dutch nintendo magz, but i just didn'T sorry :-S and as i mostly played at my hometown, i didn't run very often into impossible mission tattoos...

i check out the link latz ty!

Why is lava getting pissed on anyone that asks his motives?

You can do with your body what you want. If you cant take the asking, dont post your body parts here. Thank you.

If you had read the thread, I was asked to show it, merely as proof. I see no reason why you think you have any rights because I show my tattoo here. I just frown at the way you and Optimus approach me, you telling me I'm destroying my body, and the amazing Optimus, who in 23 years of gaming has never seen a game-related tattoo, and finds it 'hilarious'.
Sadly for you though, I am not pissed at all, I am just slightly annoyed at the rather dumb questions. I did answer them, so please do not whine even more, I think I spent more than enough time on my tattoo now. I think the forums have seen enough of it too, by now.

If 'defensive' is what you would call 'I don't like you by default, I dislike you by default', then it's 'defensive'. Fine by me!
