Not sure what to call it, but it's a kinda space station. I've been playing trem for about a month now. good game, lots of fun.
i'm not one to just arbitrarily bag on ppl. I figure if' you're really trying to do something, then more power to you and i'll do what i can to help you along. but, seriously, after playing some of the user made maps, i had to call myself out of q3engine mapping retirement. so i pulled together a couple of old "1 room idea" maps and this is the result. after a couple days, I'm about done. . . got some detailing and a colored light pass (to give it some character) to do and a couple structural elements then done. I could probably stand to opt the vis some, but with the strength of todays machines, that's low on the list.
I copied the overall "mode" of the map from an existing trem map. i can't remember the name but it's got mirrorred bases, a crooked backdoor hallway between the 2 bases, and a 2 story building in the center outdoor area with a laser fence. ANYWAY it seems to be a well liked map, and i think that's because it's simple and easy to understand. Space Something follows that very simple general layout: 2 bases, a central blow things up area (with a potental base rebuilding area nearby) and an alley from one base to the other. the map doesn' thave the back way in yet, but the crux of it (one base + central) is in place. so you can get a real solid idea.
as an extra added bonus, i found the psd sources for the majestic texture set. I apoligize that i've forgotten the original artists name (i thought it was ydnar but that's unlikely). I had used in a map the set that he released, but wanted to make a couple xtras (like a bouncer and a couple trims) and asked him for it to make my additions. i recall very vividly that his response was "of course." I have put it in the pk3 for all to have.
the pk3 has everything you should need to walk around the map. if you play it, i welcome your critique.
http://monsto.com/spacesomething.pk3here's a couple of screenshot primers to get you started. Plz don't mind the missing shader(s). the screens are darker that the map plays, but yes it is sparsely lit. and i don't know why the last image is bigger.
