I'm going to assume you're using Mac, since only Mac does this.

If you are using Mac, then here's what you do;
.pk3 files are basically .zip files that are renamed to a .pk3. In order to turn the unzipped maps into .pk3s, simply right-click (or ctrl-click) on the folder and select "Compress [folder name]". Once you have done this, rename the new .zip file to a .pk3 file. Once you have done this, place the .pk3 file into your "Tremulous/base" directory. That should work.

In that case, I'd suggest PakScape.

How are you downloading them?
Any maps not in the MG repo?  Email me or come to irc.freenode.net/#mg.

use a browser that doesn't unzip things without asking.

Try using Firefox. Not only does it ask before downloading, it also downloads things as they were intended to be downloaded!

Wait... If it comes as map-rotcannon-garbage-3.pk3.zip, it automatically unzips into a folder — not into a PK3. Either re-zip it or scrap whatever your current browser is and use Firefox.
