A Zombie Wars liked Mod
« on: June 12, 2008, 09:44:59 pm »
Can someone make a Mod like this Game for Trem? http://www.kongregate.com/games/SeanCooper/boxhead-the-zombie-wars
With the different that the Zombies are Aliens.
At the beginning many AI dretches wgo are more slower.

I would it do myself but i don't know to make mods only to edit the source (i mean i can only put lower/higher hp for buildongs etc in the source not new weapons  buildings etc)  :-[

I support this. Every game needs a zombie mod. All you'd have to do is, like you said, change the dretch model(and disable wallwalk), set the alien team to all AI dretches, and their simple AI would work just fine for a zombie.

You could add more stages to humans(and spread out the current upgrades among the new stages), and as you increase in stages more zombies come to make it harder.

You would also have to change the lighting in the map to create a more creepy feel. If you've ever played the zombie mod for CounterStrike you would know what I mean. The lightmaps are disabled and everything is reverse fullbright(fulldark), so that dynamic lights still light the area when you fire a gun, light your flashlight, etc. You don't really have to do this though because the zombie mod in Counter Strike allows you to play as the zombies, and you utilize the darkness to make up for your sluggish speed. It might still add to the gameplay if everything were really dark and hard to see the zombies. You could also force thick dark fog in the map so your visibility is lowered still.

Then why do you have that signature?

EDIT: In my opinion the zombies should be the human models, only with all the animations stripped out and new ones put in for better zombie animations.
Or, you could have new zombie models, but have players converted into zombies when they are hit, and the textures on their player models change into zombie-form.
I just made these textures:

(tga)

(tga)
And now a screenshot:

I also set u_shoulderpads to gfx/null to disable the shoulderpads in upper_default.skin:
Code: [Select]
tag_head,

tag_weapon,

u_armour_light,gfx/null

u_shoulderpads_base,gfx/null

u_shoulderpads_light,gfx/null

u_torso,models/players/human_base/base.tga

tag_torso,

Very nice! With your work this should be easy for a modder. All they have to do is switch dretch model with your human, maby change around some animations etc, and thats pretty much it. Nice!

now doing skeletal animation, on human model is a problem, a quite considerable one.
Whiles model in default pose(standing straight, out-stretched arms) doesnt cause a problem(mirror bone editing, mirror weight painting - and all other tools that use x-mirror) model in random poses is not symetrical so making and editing its skeleton is hell.
If i had a model of humie in default pose i would make new animation right away without even writing this post.
Im not saying that it is impossible but it is quite hard to do and the effect wont be satisfactory.

Import the md3 in Blender and delete the animations. Then make new animations for walk, stand, and attack. These zombies wont be jumping, or running. Also note that md3's do not use skeletal animations, rather frame animations. The models are also split into three zones: head, upper, and lower.

The model work not only in tremulous.
It work in all Quake 3 based games like Quake 3 Arena and Jedi Knight 1, 2 and 3 and other games.

i will attempt to make it but i suck a lot at modding.
But it seems simple enough to try.

Could someone get some custom sounds for the model?
It doesn't sound right with human sounds.

I also have one other question
is it my fault that there are things on my zombies head?

The zombie look a little bit like the clown from the new Dark Knight Movie.  ;)
But with Clown hair style. ^^

Sorry for double Post.
But.
The Zombie Mod is NOT death!!!

A Player with the name Ferdinant and some other modders work on a version for Tremulous like the Zombie Mod for Counter Strike where the zombies can infect you and make you to a zombie.
