Team Fortress 2 is similar to Tremulous in the FPRTS sense, you can build Sentrys etc.

I'd say price is a factor for many of us  Tremulous players. The Orange Box or TF2 standalone costs money :P
Of course, Gloom is similar to Tremulous, and so it Natural Selection, but I'm picking the easy ones :D
Natural Selection requires Half Life 1, which costs money.

Savage, RTCW:ET, Alien Arena, Nexuiz....

Savage is a real blast, try it at LAN sometime. :)

Also, planetside might be something to try if you're looking for something bigger.

Urban Terror

"Urban Terror is a free multiplayer first person shooter, that does not require Quake III Arena. It is available for Windows, Linux and Macintosh. The current version is 4.1.

Urban Terror can be described as a Hollywood tactical shooter; somewhat realism based, but the motto is "fun over realism". This results in a very unique, enjoyable and addictive game."

I like Nexuiz, but it doesn't run well on older computers.

Enemy Territory is fun.

True Combat Elite is kind of fun.  It's kind of like American's Army except that it's ...kind of fun.  It's a total conversion mod for Enemy Territory, so make sure you download that first.
They seem to be having some internet problems, but you could maybe try the TCE: North America site for now.  Don't take the NA forum seriously.
