Problems starting Tremulous
« on: June 19, 2008, 04:20:28 pm »
I was playing tremulous, and I was changing the resolution options. I put the resolution too high, and it messed up the game. It said that the game could not run at the current resolution. The problem is, I don't know how to change the resolution back to default. I tried reinstalling it, but it still didn't work. Now, when I open the game, all it does is send me an error message, so I can't even change the resolution back. How do I change the resolution so I can play the game again?

Start it from the command like with +set r_mode 4

It says "Windows cannot find +set....". Is there a way to change the game to default settings without opening it?

In your "base" folder you will find a file called "autogen.cfg". Delete or rename it. On the next start tremulous will generate a new one with the default settings.

Where does the game store the tremulous folder? I can't find it.

tremulous.exe +set r_mode 4

You tried to start a programm called "set" which of course does not exist.

qryan11: run tremulous from within a console and post the output here. Some additional info about your Operating System, graphic card etc would help too.

1. Click Start
2. Type 'cmd' and press enter. A small window pops up: the  MS-DOS shell aka  DOS prompt
3. Type 'tremulous" into that MS-DOS shell and press enter
4. After the game crashes or shuts down, copy the complete content of the MS-DOS shell and post it here. This could be a pretty long list.

Hope i gave a proper description. I'm not a windows user  :P

5. And what kind of graphic card are you using?

how would one do that    :advmarauder:

One would go to the website of the manufacturer and select the appropriate driver package.

f.e.

http://www.amd.com
http://www.nvidia.com
http://intel.com

etc...

Dunno what Glide is, but it looks you have to install it.

To set the resolution:
Code: [Select]
<PATH_TO_TREMULOUS.EXE> +set r_mode 4

If it fails again, try setting r_mode lower.
