Cool mumble hack (split from: [FREE] Teamspeak Servers...)
« on: June 26, 2008, 02:05:37 am »
[edit]Rather than let this get lost among the "omg necro" posts in the thread it was in, i'm going to give it its own thread - kev[/edit]

On TremSpain we have Mumble. It's teamspeak equivalent on "software libre". The quality is amazing and it doesn't get almost no bandwidth. We have added a patch to the server so you only talk with the people of your team, A, H or S, if your mumble nick is equal to your in-game nick. It changes your group automaticaly. This may be interesting for server owners, may you take a look.

http://www.tremulous-spain.com/wiki/doku.php?id=mumble (to know how to install)

http://www.tremulous-spain.com/wiki/doku.php?id=treamspeak (to get the team-change server script)

PS: Wiki info is still only in spanish, sorry about that.
PS2: If you install it on your server, please report at TremSpain english subforum: http://tremulous-spain.com/foro/index.php?board=25.0

Is this a patch from the ioquake3 mumble code?
Very nice to hear it working in tremulous!
Code: [Select]
Linux: ~/.tremulous/base/
Mac: ~/Library/Application\ Support/Tremulous/base/
Windows: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Tremulous\base\
NeonPulse

nope, looks like it requests the serverinfo from the server every 3 seconds, and determines your team based on the response.

Ok let's plan it out. Asva, you are nub, go sit on rets, I will build, you two go feed like hell, you go pwn their asses, and everyone else camp in the hallway, roger?

Yeah, that's what it does but it doesn't cost anything.

BTW there is a patch that allows an !info mumble and shows all players conected to mumble server, but I think the code isn't on our wiki yet. If anyone is interested ask for it on TremSpain.

What is this? Why do you give us your e-mail address? It's tempting.

I'm interested in this, but I'd rather not sign up for Yet-Another-Forum-On-Which-I-Make-One-Post-And-Never-Come-Back. Have a link to the patch?

The thing is... I don't know if that part is posted, I don't think so. Anyway, the forum doesn't give you mails nor spam nor anything and you can post without register...

Ok, allright. I'll ask for you. I'll let you know when I get something.

Allright. Seems that all the !info mumble stuff is controlled by the !info command. One of the scripts saves all the information to one txt file on the !info directory. So that !info knows what to post when a call about mumble is asked.

So everything's there, you just need to install the !info patch.

Let me go see if it's in the links from OP...

EDIT: Yes, I seem to be a retard. I'll go crawl back under my rock now.
