Of course it's criticizing, and whether they pay for it or not is irrelevant, you don't see mmorpg companies telling their players to shutup and not complain, infact they condone it. I'm not dissing the server owners I'm dissing the playerbase that attends the server.
MMORPG companies receive money from the people playing, most Tremulous server owner do not receive any kind of payment, besides people like you telling them that their servers are lame camp/tk feasts.
I don't know how the situation is on the servers you play on, but we consider our regular clients to be part of 'us', so insulting the people playing there is much like insulting the server owner and the admins.
I still really don't see why you would call all the public servers lame camp/tk feasts, while all those servers do is provide you with your games of Tremulous. I mean, are you really that stupid?

Well then this argument is over. I don't consider the playerbase be to apart of "you guys" and neither do I think their actions should reflect the server owners. Maybe now I understand some of the reasoning behind your server banning the polaks based off this.

If you think it's "stupid" to criticize the playerbase of the servers then you fail at life. End of discussion.

[PS]Just to clarify, I spend most of my time on Tremulous in clan servers. Not public servers, because of the aforementioned reasons.

I'll clarify it again just for you, because you are slow: Our Polish regulars agreed with our banning of their retarded fellow Poles. Funny how you bring up this very, very old thing though. You even made me think about what countries we have banned. Look here for a complete list of banned zones.
How you think you can understand the reasoning behind our banning practices, while you have no idea what our banning practices are, is quite amusing, but if you really want to think you do understand, then I will not shatter your dream.

If the playerbase of a server is made up of lamers, that means the admins of the server suck, unless they want their server to be populated with lamers, in which case they are doing a great job. Assuming they want nice players on their server, the admins are there to make sure that the playerbase is made up of nice players, and not lamers. If you criticize the playerbase, you directly criticize the admins, since they are responsible for the playerbase. They decide who comes in and who is forcefully let out the backdoor. Maybe you should not spend your time on servers that are full of camping/tking lamers, because it quite clearly is obscuring your view on the rest of the public servers out there. Sadly, I don't really know any good, populated American public servers, but I'm fairly certain someone can help you out with this.

And last but certainly not least, please don't fool anyone into thinking the games on your clan servers are any different from the games on public servers. The only noticeable difference is probably that clan servers have a much higher density of retarded people than the average public server.

The admins are there to make sure the players follow the rules of the server, not to ensure there playerbase is free of annoying campers. If those are the kindof players attracted to the server it isn't their fault that's just how things turned out.

Since we're on different sides of the pond and you don't know how pub servers work in America I'll tell you now. The only good public server would be PureTremulous. There might be other good public servers but they run different settings with odd qvm's and they aren't considered Tremulous.

[PS] Clan servers in Europe might be filled with more retards then Pub servers. But over here it's where you will find the more higher skilled players.

I guess you do not administrate a populated public server? Or in other words, if lamers keep coming to your house, annoying your friends, it's not your fault the lamers are there, but it's just how things turned out?

Odd QVM's and servers that use settings that are considered 'retarded' by most are very much Tremulous. The only people who do not consider it Tremulous are the ones who have written the secret rulebook on what makes a server a Tremulous server.

[PS] I'm sorry, but higher skill and the use of Unlagged assistance does not mix. Ever.

Was playing rotcannon and heard some people talking about going there and deconing it so a while later I went there and found the most horrible server that is not an X server.

I have even done decon teams where I and another player each decon a team.

Not that deconning is good, but on that server it felt soooo good  :D

PS: if I see someone decon I will kick/forcespec/etc. their ass so don't talk to me about that it was only Harwes

It's too easy to dodge in lagged.
How many times do American players have to beat top Euro players in lagged with 150 ping to prove a point (Yes, I still remember, Ozzy :))?

AppleJuice, I regularly played on American servers, until for some odd reason people quit coming to PureTrem. I have never seen St. Anger on PureTrem. In fact, I think I have played a lot more games on American servers than you and St. Anger have played on Euro servers.

And regarding Unlagged, ask any FPS professional if they use Unlagged assistance or not. They do not use Unlagged in professional tournaments. The argument that it's too easy to dodge in a normal game, as opposed to a game with Unlagged assistance is one of the funniest jokes I've ever heard. Unlagged serves a very clear purpose, and that is even out the playing field for all players, specifically the ones who just are not able to play with normal lag, and thus require assistance. This makes the game more fun for a large group of players, but also destroys the game for more hardcore players. I myself cannot aim with Unlagged, since after a good 10 years of on-line FPS gaming, I just cannot quit leading shots when I have higher ping. Just like in Gloom, the American players prefer a more newbie-friendly style of gaming, whereas the Europeans like hardcore action. Only Gloom had no Unlagged, and therefore did not breed a whole generation of FPS players that require assistance.

I'm sure you have Lava Croft, considering there's hardly any populated servers in Europe running unlagged.

Of course they don't use unlagged in professional tournaments, there's no need to because they run a LAN connection. But they DO aim at their targets rather than leading, which is what people do in unlagged.

You seem to miss the point that Unlagged equals assistance. You require assistance to hit stuff, whereas people who play without Unlagged do not require this assistance. The fact that you mention you rarely play on Euro servers because they have no Unlagged more than acknowledges this.

Unlagged is not lame at all. It is the perfect tool to level out the playing field for a large group of players. But, even faintly suggesting that your skill is higher than someone who plays without Unlagged, while you yourself do not even dare to play without Unlagged, is just plain stupid.

I didn't do this, but...

The whole game was a campfest. The aliens had glitched themselves a new base somewhere completely impervious to attack, while the humans were sitting turrets. One guy went to the aliens and deconned everything while a friend on the human team did the same. I lol'd at everyone and left.

PureTremulous != an American Clan server.  Say what you want to about the "retards" on our clan servers, but just because you've played on some American servers does not mean you have played on American clan servers, let alone good ones. Yet you claim to have knowledge of the quality of games on such servers. My point still stands.

Regarding unlagged, once again your point is weak, as much of it is based on assumptions.  You assume we "do not dare to play without unlagged." This is clearly false.  You haven't played with us, just as we haven't played with you (according to you), so how do you know this?  We do (at least St. Anger and I do), in fact, play both lagged and unlagged.  Yes, it is easier to aim in unlagged, but that also makes it harder to dodge in it.  We have observed this over many, many games.  Again, you are free to disagree...most of this is opinion.

My point: we play both lagged and unlagged. Unlagged vs lagged is irrelevant to this topic.

@AppleJuice: Why do you keep on replying to posts clearly aimed at St. Anger? Are you afraid he might not be competent enough to talk for himself?

I'm sure you have Lava Croft, considering there's hardly any populated servers in Europe running unlagged.

Is it weird that I assume he doesn't play without Unlagged after this statement?

And as a last note, because you do not seem to have too good of a memory: I call the inhabitants of clanservers retards, because I think clans are for retards.

Now, any more deconner around here? If so, hurry up before the 3rd guy comes in and starts to do the talking for both AppleJuice and St. Anger.

Another great post from Bomb

The only time I've helped decon was during a scrim (at least I think I threw a nade out...Balls vs {V}, during which Balls muted our entire team and kicked a player).  Otherwise, I usually just spectate myself if the opposing team resorts to hard camping.

@Lava Croft: I don't see the problem, as I play with St. Anger regularly, and I know he plays both lagged and unlagged. Is there a rule prohibiting this?

Your second point....is just stupid

Although here there is a more offtopic-ish conversation, i will post this more ontopic one.

I deconstruct only when needed. I don't like deconstructing the RC or OM when I know that mid-time half of the aliens will have been fed because humans had no means of defense at the time. Although i decon midgame, mostly because the current position can be easily destroyed by aliens/humans.
Plus, i decon when noob builders build three teslas (:tesla:) one next to the other so closely that there is no way through, blocking any other attacker with no stamina and ammo, forcing him to either change way or die with result of feeding most of the times.

Now you can keep on talking about ... whatever you were before.
