Hit-and-run, learn to wallwalking, avoid blocking other aliens, jump a lot, hide against superior enemy (>2 humans). And the more important: Have fun! :D

1.  Never attack in a strait line

2.  Dont build on a populated game unless you know for a fact you know what you are doing.

3.  Realize the each evolution's strengths and weaknesses.  Tyrants are huge and powerfull plus all aliens around them get a healing boost, but they cant jump worth crap, cant attack bases that are high, are HUGE targets, and are easy to hit.  A dretch has a weak attack against armored opponents plus they have extremely low health.  But they are small and hard to hit, they are one of the fastest aleins in the game, they can ambush humans on the walls, and they are litterally one of the best aliens for the job if your against an S1 team.

4.  Realize that every time you are killed, the other team gets points for upgrades.  Known as "Feeding the other team", it pretty much garuntee's you to lose if you constantly try and attack them and die.  Because thats how they get powerfull weapons that kill you even better.

5.  Turret kills however, do NOT count twords the human kill count.  If you KNOW you are going to die, do so by a turret preferably, unless you are against an S3 human team (because by that time it doesnt matter how many kill tehy get, but it still doesnt help to die).

6.  Dretches dont make a sound when they walk.  As such, its easy to ambush humans and chase them with them if they dont know you are there.  When you jump though, you WILL make a sound.

7.  ALWAYS aim for the head.  If you a dretch, look up and try and get it so the center of the screen if the human's head.  A dretch does 94 damage to a human with no helmit on if it hit the head.  Also the only time you should really jump is when you are litterally attacking the human.  Such as, jump at them in head level to hit a head shot.

8.  Search teh forums!  There are plenty of help threads reguarding building as an alien, general tactics, do's and donts, among others.

um...if humans take more than half your health before a turret kills you, then they get the point. So as a general rule, just watch your health and stay back if you take a pounding.

As a Dretch, attack from behind if you can.  The element of surprise is useful for getting a free hit, and hopefully an easy kill.

Headbites do major damage.  As a Dretch, sometimes, it is possible to get a headbite if you attack from the ground while aiming at the head.

If you kill someone or get a pity point, don't evolve to a Basilisk.  The Basilisk is even harder to play than the Dretch.  It's much bigger, noisier, and doesn't bite as hard.  It's better to put the point towards a Marauder or Dragoon.

If you hear a sound like someone rolling some dice, it's a grenade.  Get out of there as fast as you can.

The Adv. Marauder zap has to be well aimed in order to connect.

To get more range from a Dragoon pounce, aim up a little.

Granger spit is near worthless.  It does 4 damage to an unarmored human.  The only practical use is to use it to lower a jetpacker so your teammates can finish it off.  But don't count on it.

Also, it can be used to kill Turrets, but don't count on it.  A human is probably going to notice before you are done, and kill you.

Marauder Zap .. Well aimed?
this aliens skill is proximity based to my knowledge u must be close to or if not near Contact with your intended target
you need not have your crosshair on him it works much like a chain lightning its possible to jump over a targets head zapping him as you pass over him. and it will zap i think up to 2 targets if their close enough to each other.

when dealing with lowly unbacked up turrets or a wall of turrets make their builders panic with repairs by meerly jumping in Zapping and running off if they dont chase heal and Repeat till you've either breached the turrets or suckerd some grunts out of the base if u die but ..yeah. also Jump jump jump jump i find as soon as you get close enough to start jumping over the targets head its all amatter of looking down while jumping..slashing all the while.

beginner blasik tip
1)your not going to take out a guy on your own
2)dont go wandering off on your own
3)look for a bigger unit or several dretches
or a granger to protect.
or in desperate measures make your self at home on an barrier and wait for your alien welfair cheque.
(!your goal!) is to Stay alive and not to feed and ASSIST in kills

look for skrimages you can assist in(eg. a goons getting chased GRab the chaser dont slash him it will do nothing and he'll continue chasing the goon till hes dead then he'll kill you for slashing him)

theres a few more

I'm quite sure the Marauder Zap needs to be aimed.  It's why they give you a crosshair.

I originally assumed that it was proximity based, so I tried jumping around like an idiot (more so than normal, anyways) while trying to spark it.  It hardly ever worked.  I was amazed that other Marauders were able to hit at all.

Someone mentioned aiming it on the forums, so I tried it, and connected a hell of a lot more.  It really help.  Just try it.

I believe it can hit up to 3 humans or structures, but it only does half damage to the second target, and quarter damage to the third.  I think.  I would have to check the manual to be sure.

It needs to be aimed. As some old players said, it was fully autoaimed before and players prefered to have some control on the target for crowded areas.
urphy's rules of combat
8 ) Teamwork is essential; it gives the enemy someone else to shoot at.
18 ) Make it too tough for the enemy to get in and you can't get out.

Whatever you do dont bother reading the rest of the threads on the forum. In particular I'm sure the thread "Little alien wannabe" has nothing you want to read
