Getting Trem Started on XP

I installed Tremulous, and when I run it, the blue console comes up and says

GLW_StartOpenGL() - could not load OpenGL subsystem

and it stays like that. Anyone know the problem? I would appreciate it alot.

Quote from: FAQQ: I get the error 'GLW_StartOpenGL() - could not load OpenGL subsystem' when I try to run Tremulous!
A: This error is caused by the game not being able to detect your Open GL drivers for your graphics card.  There are two things you can try to resolve this issue:

-If you are using your vendors graphic card drivers (i.e. Asus, Abit), try using your manufacturer's graphic card drivers (i.e. ATI, Nvidia)
-If you are using the manufacturer's graphic card drivers, try using the vendors card drivers.
-If the above steps fail, try uninstalling your graphic card drivers completely, rebooting, then reinstalling the latest set of drivers, rebooting a second time, and trying to run Tremulous again.

Note:  ATI's Windows Vista Beta 2 drivers DO NOT INCLUDE OPEN GL.  There is currently no known work around until ATI updates their drivers with open gl support.

Failing that, type "could not load OpenGL subsystem" in the search field at the top and gleefully paw through the myriad of results.

Death On Ice

Or read the FAQ.
To save you that pleasure, I will inform you of the solution: Get updated video drivers.

Zero

Your drivers for video card are either melting (since its summer) or they are not updated to their latest. If your vid drivers are intel, i could help you out but if they are nVidia, you gotta google it.

tojimaru

My house is freezing cold all day long. And my computer is so old....I don't know how to update the video drivers or anything.

Lava Croft

Go to the website of your videocard manufacturer and download the latest drivers, once it finished downloading, install the drivers. Chances are it's either an Nvidia card or an Ati/AMD card.

Also, a bit of self-motivation when it comes to solving your own problems will not hurt you now, nor in the future.

My comp is a Xp from 2001 and it has an intel chip

...WARNING: could not set the given mode (3)

I was helping him with this earlier, I think. This could be a problem with loading a wrong r_mode, couldn't it?

Then go to intel and download an appropriate gfx driver. Though, if it is that old and utilizes an intel chip for graphics it might just be to slow to play at all.

To clarify why I answered him and not the OP. Also, why don't you add a helpful comment? Bigottery?

To tojimaru:

Get a recent gfx driver for your graphics card, either at www.amd.com or at www.nvidia.com

Then try again.

How would I know which site to download from?

Zero

Check your computer properties and see what type of inegrated card your using, like intel, Nvidia or AMD32-64 bit.
