And please dont just say Luc Cannons  :P

Thanks in advance.

2 people in B-suit and either chaingun or pulse rifle.

But yeah, luci works really well :P

I've found that for very few credits, a shotgun can actually be quite effective.

Chainguns rock, especially in Bsuits.

The best situation to be in is you chasing a Tyrant who runs to heal with a chaingun down a long hallway.  Rare chance they make it out alive, assuming they dont have backup friends.

Jetpack + Pulse. They can't get you but you can get them :)

This only works if theres no goons/marauder around to hit you of course, or you'll fall and become tyrant food quickly

But the best for chasing and defensing is still the chaingun, with or without the bsuit

yeah, chaingun for tyrants is best, or if you're 1337 use a painsaw or a blaster.

Nothing quite like tearing up stuck tyrants with awful weapons :D

Pain saw for defending and chain + Bsuit for attacking.
Don't you love people that defend with Lucy, flamer, pulse and nade!
I know I love them as a adv mara, since they do all the work for me ;)

The best way to ruin a tyrants day in my opinion is to wait for one to take a good amount of damage in a well protected human base and then chase them down with something other then a luci, blaster, flamer or painsaw.

If you insist on fighting a tyrant directly the worst thing you can do is go out unarmored and alone against a tyrant with 400 hp naked with only a rifle, a better way to kill them alone is to take some armor and then discretely throw a nade close by and then try to occupy the tyrant with your firing and movement if you pull it off correctly the tyrant will stand directly on the nade when it goes off making your job much easier. If your up for a sucicidal venture you can try to kill a tyrant by painsawing him while he is distracted and at reduced hp.

As always you should be aiming for the head when you face a tyrant.

Throw a nade.

Dodge tyrant until it is about to go off.

Run to nade.

The *only* buy bind I'm using is a bind too sell all weapons and buy a painsaw. I've succesfuly used it already 2-3 times for urgent Tyrant sawing :)

Huh ? Since when do aliens have locational damage ?

Maybe aming for the head makes it less likely to hit teammembers who rush in to kill it, ignoring the fact that they run into you line of fire.  :P

Wait a second who is mistaken here? Didn't the manual have something on alien locational damage? Take a mass driver the damage is fixed yet it takes 1 or 2 shots to kill a full-health adv-granger.

Flamers and painsaws are quite good. One human with a flamer, and one with a psaw, both in bsuits. They stay in a pack, and the tyrant goes after one of them. The other rushes in and uses their weapon on the tyrant, while the first one uses it on the tyrant as he is being attacked. Soon, no tyrant.

There is no turret setup that will stop a tyrant on its own, but getting 6 of them to all shoot at one place is always a plus.

|......................x..x............|<---omg turrets

If you are low on funds and a chaingun/bsuit are out of the question, I like to pull out a shotgun with any configuration and just shoot without getting  hit. Needless to say this doesn't happen(often anyway). Most successful tyrant hunts are done when some fearless bsuit/chaingun chases down the tyrant after its somewhat successful turret raid.

But that is just in my experience. Also in my experience the tyrant gets enough kills to go tyrant again after it dies. I dont' think there is any one singular strategy.. just don't die.

The best tyrant prevention strat I can offer is.. don't let them get to s3.

And so ends my meaningless post.

Wait until they have attacked the base, then when they retreat hunt them down mercilessly with mass drivers.

Becaus you can still snipe them when they've charged away, unlike any other weapon (except maybe lasgun and rifle)

I agree with Who, if the base is good the turrets should do most of the damage for you.  Just don't throw away the advantage the turrets give. I hate it when a tyrant rushes in, hits some turrets, and runs away crying like a little baby (I love the sounds aliens make when they're near death) and no one pursues.  That is the kicker, you need to make sure they die.  Nades in their route of retreat work too:

Tyrant:  Smash  Whack Whack Whimper whimper Run

BOOM.  :D

Shotgun + sprint works much better. When you sprint, you run almost as fast as trampling tyrant. Massdriver can't deal over 400 damage with a single clip. Shotgun can

Sprinting is a lot slower than a trampling tyrant. Plus you're only going to deal that much damage with the shotgun if all pellets hit, which is unlikely if the tyrant is far away. The mass driver has a far greater range than the shotgun, so there is still the possibility of hitting the tyrant when you can't keep up with it anymore (which will happen fairly soon, unless you're in a map with a lot of corners and doors). Mass driver probably isn't the best way of hunting tyrants, as it requires precision, and if one of your shots misses it takes some time to be able to shoot again. Possibly the most effective weapon would be the pulse rifle, but the tyrant can easily outrun the pulses, so it only works well in close quarters (or if you are drafting it as it is running away). It is also possible to get good results with the lasgun. It doesn't do a lot of damage, but you can shoot continuously for a long time (even longer with batt pack), so you can just keep shooting away! (Plus you can shoot those pesky hatchies that trail you without worrying about the loss of ammo / rate of fire!

In the spirit of the thread, you can try and out-trick tyrants:

Yes, you're slower but tyrant can't trample all the time while you can keep sprinting for a long time. Each time he has to charge trample again, you'll get closer. And don't forget how huge tyrant hitbox is. There're only few corridors long enough to make some pellets miss because of shotgun spread. Full shotgun clip (8 shots) will kill the tyrant. You need 12 shots from mass driver. That's over half more time you need to keep up with tyrant than with shotgun. And if he's wounded to say 200hp, he has no chance to get out of shotgun range in time. He has a small chance to run away from your massdriver though.

I'm sorry to tell you this but this movie gives us sh*t... oh weeeeeeee, you chased two tyrants to death, at map... atcs, probably the worst map for aliens, the tyrant players were newb probably (gimme a break, a bs + shotgun for tyrant is a two hitter quitter), and they were weakend by other humans, the real challenge for tyrant is bs + chaingun, sometimes helmet+light armor + lucifer cannon - the hitbox is smaller...

I'm just recording a better movie of dretch- adv mara - tyrant ownage

Whatever gets the job done heh. The Tyrants wouldn't have died if Who didn't chase them, so he did a great service to his team, a great service to humanity.

We'll wait for your video.

Shotgun is a plenty good weapon for killing any type of alien.

I use Light + PR vs. anything bigger than myself, and light + shotgun for anything smaller. I rarely ever see the need for buying anything else, as most other options are too expensive for how practical they actually are ( for myself, at least. )

Oh I'm so sorry I disappointed the great PanKot! I did not realize that a clip which illustrates the first point I made in this thread ("Wait until they have attacked the base, then when they retreat hunt them down mercilessly with mass drivers.") except with a shotgun would not appease the great and masterful PanKot.

I am so sorry, PanKot! I will not let it happen again! Please forgive me!
